It is an FTP Server for the PS3, with it, on a retail with your choice of "hack" to enable unsigned code it allows:
• Full Read/Write access to all of "dev_hdd0" (including save areas, games, VM etc)
• Full Read/Write access to "dev_flash2" and "dev_flash3"
• Full Read/Write access to connected usb devices
• Full Read access to "dev_flash"
• Full Read access to "dev_bdvd"
Connect with your choice of FTP client - Prefered is the old "ftp" from the command line, however Filezilla seems to work, allowing only one connection, and disabling PASV support.
Furthermore, the Server does not support some commands (like rename, of all things!) so make sure what you do counts!
Use the IP shown on the screen - make sure to have your net connection up and running before hand (wired is so much faster)
172w ago - Yesterday we caught a glimpse of some PS JailBreak Reviews which confirmed PS3 Firmware 3.41 is required, and today we have some PS3 JailBreak details from PlayStation 3 hackers SKFU and the DemonHades Team along with some pictures of the inside of the PS JailBreak (below) courtesy of PlanetadeJuego.com.
For those who missed it, PS JailBreak was first announced two days ago and is a USB device which allows end-users to play PS3 game back-ups on Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
"I just tested the software they uploaded and can confirm it works so far.
I can tell a bit about the backup manager. It seems the software uses bd_emu features to manage the backups. The HDD to use, should have a modified bd emu format, which sets all backups on first position, so the PS3 detects 'em all. Then you can choose the image to boot via the manager.
According to one individual with a highly questionable reputation, this concept project could work because PS1/PS2 discs are authenticated only once on the VSH though liblv2 and the PIC chip would just automate it.
However, if Sony updates liblv2.sprx and more specifically ps1rom.bin so the emulated mechacon is updated it could be patchable.
Finally, to roughly translate from the video's caption:
"This video montage shows the operation of the chip that we are developing to load copies of PS1 and PS2 (if you're retro) in the PS3.
182w ago - Just under a month ago the IntensaFire PlayStation 3 Controller Mod by BGRMods was first announced, and today I have reviewed this PS3 DualShock rapid-fire modification below!
First off I would like to thank IntensaFireStore.com for providing this wonderful chip, installation was seamless and simple; if taking your controller apart is impossible for you, don't worry about it.
Instructions are included with this, no worrying about a large PDF on CD or 900 pages of nothing. Most of it is self-explanatory and anyone can figure it out (Maybe not a caveman, however )
Let's get down to business, shall we?
Again, installation is simple. Don't make a thread complaining that you can't get your controller open or you can't figure out how the chip snaps on top of the controller chip.. it's not rocket science ;]
I've demoed this mod on 3 PS3 games (I'm not your cheater here, so I worked with only PlayStation 3 demos). After I played the Battlefield 1943 demo, which had a trial period of 30 minutes, I haven't used it since.
It was rather amazing to be able to adjust the fire rate in-game as well, allowing me...
195w ago - Just over a month ago the PS3 Hypervisor lv2 (GameOS) was dumped and GeoHothinted that it was accomplished by commanding an SPU to load METLDR.
Today dondolo let us know that simone has detailed how to load METLDR in SPU isolation mode on the PlayStation 3 and included some source code.
While this is definitely a step forward, he still doesn't specify what the read/write u32 functions are... or which functions to add to the recent XorHack release.
Those interested can check it out below, and to quote:
"After some experiment I succeded to load METLDR in spu isolation.
You need geohot's exploit to do this, because you need to turn spu relocation off (MFC_SR1[R]=0) and not let know the HV you are using a SPU (so no calls to lv1_construct_logical_spe or similar). For some strange conf, it doesn't work in HV way."
