Video: LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3 Community Game Jam at E3 2010

50°
236w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has posted up a video today from E3 2010 showcasing a LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3 community game jam to get fans creative juices flowing!

To quote: As we close the books on E3 2010, I'd like to spotlight one of the games we showcased in Los Angeles this week.

LittleBigPlanet 2 will be on its way to PLAYers, CREATErs, and SHARErs later this year, so we thought we'd help get this creative juices flowing within our great community.

To do this, on June 4th, we invited a selection of talented creators from around the world to come down to the new [Register or Login to view links] studio in Guildford (UK) to check out LittleBigPlanet 2 and put the new creation tools to the test.

We gave the 15 attendees 24 hours to go nuts with the new game, allowing them to build anything they could think of. Here's a look at a video from the event to show you what I'm talking about.

And for a complete rundown of the Game Jam, check out [Register or Login to view links] for impressions written by the creators themselves.

237w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3 interview today with James Gallagher and Media Molecule's Alex Evans and Mark Healey.

To quote: With well over 2 million user-created levels playable in LittleBigPlanet, it's safe to say that Media Molecule knows what makes the gaming community tick.

Recently, the Molecules did something else that proved pretty popular: they opened their doors to the top creators in that community, giving them a chance to spend a day trying out LittleBigPlanet 2's powerful creation tools.

Our intrepid European counterpart, [Register or Login to view links], was on hand in Guildford, England for the event, and interviewed MM's Alex Evans and Mark Healey - presented now for your viewing pleasure.

It's sunny! Are you sure you shot this in England, James?

LBP Turbo! PS3 Pack Development Diary 11 and 12: Plane Stupid

50°
240w ago - SCEE Senior Producer Mark Green is here with LittleBigPlanet Turbo! Pack development diary 11 and 12 dubbed Plane Stupid.

To quote: 'Turbo! Pack' Development Diary 11: 'Plane Stupid' - Andy Knowles, Designer

The final level. No pressure, then! To be honest this level was a bit of a headache. And not just a normal headache, but a big, fat headache, one of those ones that the ibuprofen doesn't even take the edge off.

The main reason for this was that, like Jon's submarine, the jump jet is effectively 'floating', and so can be really difficult to control. Now, Jon's luckier than me because the sub's supposed to be underwater, so moving really slowly is a good thing.

Not for a jump jet though, eh? Oh no, something like that's got to be moving pretty quickly. And we want it to have controls for four directions, not three (the sub is naturally buoyant). Four controls for one cockpit. Grrreat.

And another thing: the trouble with something as big as the jump jet being made to move at any speed greater than 'quite slow' is that you can't see where you're going. With the tank, for example, you can point the camera in front of it, and as long as Sackboy's on-screen, everything's fine.

But the tank only needs to move...
