Atlus Warns of Demon's Souls Dangers & Rewards on Halloween

253w ago - Today AtlusAram has unveiled that new dangers and rewards will be lurking in the shadows for those who play Demon's Souls for PS3 online this Halloween. Boo!

Press Release: IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 29, 2009 - Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today passed along an ominous warning to online players of the sleeper hit Demon's Souls for PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.

"Early reports from the Kingdom of Boletaria indicate that the Old One's power grows," announced Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus, shuffling awkwardly under the weight of his full set of fluted armor.

"We've discovered that the nefarious Demon will seek to descend the land in pure blackness on All Hallow's Eve. His minions will be more powerful, but the rewards for those who seek to challenge them will be greater as well. We don't know how long this dark tendency will last, but we do advise those prone to controller-into-LCD syndrome to proceed carefully."

Jabbari then cackled as he quickly put a Thief's ring on his finger and disappeared.

Demon's Souls is out now for PlayStation 3 system and retails with an MSRP of $59.99.

Demon's Souls is Now Available for PlayStation 3

256w ago - Today Atlus' Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced that Demon's Souls is officially released for Sony's PlayStation 3 console.

To quote: The Kingdom of Boletaria is now open to you, brave adventurers: Demon's Souls for PlayStation 3 is now available in retailers across North America.

For months leading up to its release, we've emphasized the game's difficulty level, striving in every instance not to misrepresent the game and to ensure that curious gamers are not caught off guard by the challenges that await them. That said, we don't want anyone to steer clear of the game because of what they've heard. If that is not the perfect segue into some starting tips for new heroes, then I don't know what is.

Mild Spoiler Alert:

Your first task in Demon's Souls, before even jumping into the game world, is to create your character. Demon's Souls offers 10 different player classes, each with different starting stats and equipment.

Unlike many RPGs, Demon's Souls does not punish players for choosing something out of line with their play style. Regardless of which class you pick, you'll be able to eventually do anything another class is more capable of at the start; all it takes is a little extra work.

Video: TGS Interview - Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll for PS3

256w ago - Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a new video from this year's Tokyo Game Show, with the focus Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll for PS3 from Koei.

If you don't know much about the series, here's a primer from from Jem Alexander, to quote:

"While at the Tecmo Koei booth we got a chance to chat to Akihiro Suzuki, the Director of Koei's upcoming PS3 exclusive action RPG, Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll.

It's the latest in the Zill O'll series, but you'd be forgiven for not knowing that – the previous games never made it outside of Japan. It's a pretty popular series over there and now it's coming to both the US and Europe, so we'll be able to see what all the fuss is about when it releases next year.

It's a prequel to the Zill O'll series, so story-wise it promises to be very accessible. In terms of gameplay it's also a departure from the norm for the series, as it leaves its turn-based RPG roots behind and embraces a more action-orientated approach."

Video: Demon's Souls PS3 Video Walkthrough - Part Two

100°
258w ago - Today Atlus' Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has posted the second part of their Demon's Souls PS3 video walkthrough series on the PlayStation Blog.

To quote: AtlusA.R.A.M. here with part two of our Demon's Souls video walkthrough series. While our first part served primarily as an introduction to the game for newcomers, focusing on basics, this second video dives headlong into the most significant, most discussed, most acclaimed feature in the upcoming PlayStation 3-exclusive action RPG: online functionality.

Where most games offer multiplayer as a separate mode, something detached from the main experience, Demon's Souls takes the single-player games from online PS3 owners across the country, treats them as individual worlds in an interconnected universe, and allows the worlds to bridge from time to time, leading to some exciting cooperative and competitive interaction between players, in addition to the awesome messaging and bloodstain features.

There's never really been a gaming experience quite like Demon's Souls, and we're excited to be able to show you, in detail, exactly why that's the case. Demon's Souls releases on October 6 in two flavors: standard ($59.99) and deluxe ($69.99).
