To quote: How to Control Your PS4 Using the TV Remote Control Guide

In order to watch a movie or anything in PS4 you probably prefer using a remote control rather than a DualShock4 to control movie playback and to launch the console, but no new official device is available to do this.

Fortunately, there is a solution for this. I will teach you through this tutorial how to use a remote control on your PS4. I will give you the procedure with a Samsung TV.

Note: Your TV must be compatible with HDMI-CEC option, to know if this is the case, look in the manual, or search in the menus of your TV.

The first thing to do is to activate the option in the system of the PlayStation 4.

  • To do this, go to the Settings menu.
  • Then, go to the System menu at the bottom.
  • And then you must check the box "Activate device HDMI link".
  • Now in the menu on your TV, you must go to the HDMI-CEC related menu. On a Samsung, it is in the application menu, and then in Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).
  • Go to the Configuration menu.
  • Turn the HDMI-CEC option to ON.
  • Return to the previous menu, and go to...

Sony Announces YouTube is Coming to PS4 / PlayStation 4 This Year

6w ago - Sony YouTube Product Manager Sarah Ali announced that YouTube is coming to PS4 / PlayStation 4 this year!

Below is the full scoop straight from E3 2014, as follows:

Happy E3! As you may have heard during PlayStation's press conference, the YouTube team has been working hard to bring YouTube to PlayStation 4, where you can find and play all of YouTube including music videos, gaming videos, live streams and more. Today, we're delighted to announce that YouTube is coming to PS4 this fall!

Sharing your greatest gaming moments on YouTube will be a piece of cake on PS4, thanks to the dedicated sharing capabilities at the very heart of PS4.

YouTube will officially be one of the social options offered when you press the SHARE button on your DualShock 4. After pressing SHARE, you'll see the YouTube icon pop up alongside Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and Ustream, and in just a couple of quick steps, you can go from playing your favorite games to publishing videos on your own YouTube channel. You'll also be able to see your friends' shared YouTube videos using the "What's New" feed.

In addition to the integrated sharing functionality, a YouTube app on PS4 will become available (just like on PS3) where you can access your favorite YouTube channels, videos and personalities....

Your First Look at Fire-fighting Roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita

50°
17w ago - Laughing Jackal Senior Producer Alasdair Evans shared a first look at fire-fighting roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita.

To quote: Hi everyone. I'm Al, Producer at Laughing Jackal and project lead on our latest game, Flame Over for PlayStation Vita.

We initially revealed we were working on Flame Over back in August 2013 but after that, all communication ceased (for which I offer my apologies.) Needless to say, tons of stuff has happened since then, so here's a reminder of what you can expect when the game is released later this year!

Flame Over is a fire-fighting action roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels, twin stick controls, fast-paced gameplay, permadeath and dynamic fire that burns, spreads and threatens the player (and other NPCs) in some cool ways.

Your objective in Flame Over is simple. Just guide your heroic fire fighter, Blaze Carruthers, up through the floors of the Infernal Industries building in London, extinguishing all fires and rescuing all the stranded workers and - naturally - their pet cats as you go.

As you guide Blaze through this mazelike building on your quest to put out the deadly inferno and save the day, you'll move through four different zones, each with their own unique features and hazards.

What a Subscription Gets You in Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4

100°
17w ago - Square Enix Community Project Manager Hergen Thaens outlined what a subscription gets PS4 fans in Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4 today.

All of the details are below, to quote: Today's Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn post is especially interesting for those of you that have never played a subscription MMO before, as well as those of you who wonder if a monthly subscription is really for you.

When you buy a single-player game, the expectation is usually the same. Buy the game for the full price, and some DLC will follow. Final Fantasy XIV is fundamentally different, as it's an MMO that will run for years.

With Final Fantasy XIV, your subscription fee will guarantee you regular content updates throughout the lifetime of the game. The first update hit last December with Patch 2.1: A Realm Awoken, and we've just launched the feature site for [Register or Login to view links].

Just a few features (not even all) that will have been added to the original game with 2.1 and 2.2 updates:

• New Main Scenario Quests, continuing your story
• Two new raids
• Housing
• New Dungeons
• New Dungeon Hard Modes
• New primals to fight: Leviathan and Good King Moggle-Mog...
