Your First Look at Fire-fighting Roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita

3w ago - Laughing Jackal Senior Producer Alasdair Evans shared a first look at fire-fighting roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita.

To quote: Hi everyone. I'm Al, Producer at Laughing Jackal and project lead on our latest game, Flame Over for PlayStation Vita.

We initially revealed we were working on Flame Over back in August 2013 but after that, all communication ceased (for which I offer my apologies.) Needless to say, tons of stuff has happened since then, so here's a reminder of what you can expect when the game is released later this year!

Flame Over is a fire-fighting action roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels, twin stick controls, fast-paced gameplay, permadeath and dynamic fire that burns, spreads and threatens the player (and other NPCs) in some cool ways.

Your objective in Flame Over is simple. Just guide your heroic fire fighter, Blaze Carruthers, up through the floors of the Infernal Industries building in London, extinguishing all fires and rescuing all the stranded workers and - naturally - their pet cats as you go.

As you guide Blaze through this mazelike building on your quest to put out the deadly inferno and save the day, you'll move through four different zones, each with their own unique features and hazards.

What a Subscription Gets You in Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4

100°
4w ago - Square Enix Community Project Manager Hergen Thaens outlined what a subscription gets PS4 fans in Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4 today.

All of the details are below, to quote: Today's Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn post is especially interesting for those of you that have never played a subscription MMO before, as well as those of you who wonder if a monthly subscription is really for you.

When you buy a single-player game, the expectation is usually the same. Buy the game for the full price, and some DLC will follow. Final Fantasy XIV is fundamentally different, as it's an MMO that will run for years.

With Final Fantasy XIV, your subscription fee will guarantee you regular content updates throughout the lifetime of the game. The first update hit last December with Patch 2.1: A Realm Awoken, and we've just launched the feature site for Patch 2.2: Through the Maelstrom.

Just a few features (not even all) that will have been added to the original game with 2.1 and 2.2 updates:

• New Main Scenario Quests, continuing your story
• Two new raids
• Housing
• New Dungeons
• New Dungeon Hard Modes
• New primals to fight: Leviathan and Good King Moggle-Mog...

Video: Aztez is Going to Blow Up Your PS4 and PlayStation Vita

5w ago - Team Colorblind Combat Designer Ben Ruiz boasts today that Aztez is going to blow up your PS4 and PlayStation Vita consoles.

To quote: Hi! I'm Ben Ruiz, the artist and combat designer at Team Colorblind in Arizona.

I'm super excited to announced that Aztez, the brutal, bloody, expressive, difficult, and replayable action game I've been working on for two years now is coming to Sony's magnificent, next-gen beast machines. For your own information, Team Colorblind is myself and also Matthew Wegner.

"Brutal, bloody, expressive, difficult, and replayable?!" is probably what you're thinking as your eyes widen in the dim glow of my audacity. But I sincerely believe that we are cooking up something you will like! At its core, Aztez is two games. One of those games is a full on real-time beat 'em up combat experience.

We've piped in the feel and creativity of Bayonetta, the sensationalism and mobility of Capcom's Alien Vs Predator, and the precision difficulty of classic Devil May Cry. As the combat designer, I've been studying these types of games for years, and I refuse to produce and hand you something that won't dangerously raise your heart rate and dopamine levels.

6w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared an InFamous Second Son video today that answers some PS4 questions from PlayStation 4 fans below.

To quote: With the the March 21st launch of inFAMOUS Second Son on PS4 just a few weeks away, we recently reached out to you all via Twitter, Facebook, and regional forums with a call for any questions you might have about the latest entry in Sucker Punch's open-world, superhero series.

Duly, you deluged us with queries, which Brian Fleming - studio co-founder and producer on Second Son - has kindly taken the time to answer. Read on for his responses, and let us know if you have any additional questions in the comments below.

How did you come across the idea for Second Son? (‏@Crodogile)

Brian Fleming: Like a lot of things, it's not a single point. It's actually the reverse - you have a bunch of ideas that eventually coalesce and gel into what becomes Delsin Rowe.

The character himself was an offshoot of the decision to do Seattle. Once we picked Seattle, the idea of taking the roots of the area and having a kid who grew up on one of the Native American reservations here really was the genesis of Second Son.

On the flipside,...

8w ago - Sony Senior Vice President Guy Longworth of PlayStation Brand Marketing shared a video today spotlighting InFamous Second Son on PlayStation 4 dubbed Enjoy Your Power below.

To quote: In just under a month from now we'll launch one of the most anticipated games of the year - inFAMOUS Second Son on PS4.

To fuel the growing excitement for the March 21st launch date, we worked closely with Sucker Punch Productions to create an adrenaline-fueled gameplay spot that dives into the defiant attitude of the game, combining both music and industrial superpowers.

In Second Son you'll play as Delsin Rowe, a superhuman being who decides that possessing spectacular powers is extraordinarily thrilling. He quickly learns the freedom that comes with mastering his abilities and we can't wait for you to experience that exhilaration for yourself.

Featuring new in-game footage and a track from Seattle grunge band Mudhoney, this spot highlights the game's jaw-dropping visuals. It also gives you the opportunity to revel in mastering Delsin's power as you stand up to the oppressive Department of Unified Protection.

The wait is almost over....
