4w ago - The Fyzz Facility Head of Mobile Manager Robert Karp confirmed today that Backgammon Blitz is coming to PS4, PS3, and PS Vita this Winter.
Below are the details, to quote: Hi! I'm Rob Karp. You may remember me from my role as producer at XDev Studio, where I worked on a number of Sony's first-party games over the years.
Today I want to tell you about my latest venture, which is coming to PS4, PS3, and PS Vita this winter. It's called Backgammon Blitz, and it's a game I'm pumped for.
Backgammon has been played for centuries by gamers young, old, and ancient. It appears to be a simple game about getting your checkers around the board before your opponent, but has immense layers of depth and strategy to it.
I'm just the messenger, of course. The talented folks behind this lovely little title are VooFoo Studios. Having made a name for themselves with Hustle Kings and Pure Chess, Backgammon feels like a step onwards and upwards for the studio, taking all of their strengths (gorgeous art design, a subtle but stylish approach to UI) and none of their weaknesses (cake night every Friday) into the next generation of platforms.
The team are so keen to whet your appetite for the world of backgammon that they're offering a trial version of the game that'll teach you the...
4w ago - Tribute Games Writer Yannick Belzil posted up a video today announcing Mercenary Kings is coming this Winter to PS4.
To quote: It's great for us at Tribute Games to be back at the ol' Playstation.Blog. Ah, has it been that long since our hotly commented post (16 scorching comments!) back in the summer of 2013?
We're simply thrilled to be part of Sony's indie line-up for PS4. Having been a part of the E3 presentation is still a big deal to us.
If you don't know us at Tribute Games, we're an indie developer way up in Montreal, Canada. We create classic-looking games with modern twists - in this case here, Mercenary Kings, which looks like a nice, old-fashioned, run-and-gun platformer from the bygone '80s and '90s... but it's actually ENHANCED with a deep weapon and item crafting system!
You can try to make your way and destroy C.L.A.W. (Cyber Loyalists Active Weapon) clan with your regular pistol, but as you progress through Mandragora Island and pick up materials, almost every character back at your HQ offers huge crafting possibilities. There are more than 300 gun parts to mix and match.
You could enhance your weapon's magazine capacity, or forge an elemental blade that can freeze your...

55w ago - Candygun Art Director Andreas Hackel has announced today that a four-player free-for-all is coming to PS3 this Winter.
Below is the scoop, to quote: Late last year, we were gathering ideas and prototypes in preparation of creating our next game. There was one idea we really liked: A fast-paced multiplayer sneaking game about a group of safe-breakers that sneak past cameras, laser barriers, and guards to pull off the ultimate heist.
In our earliest prototype, the goal of the four players was to pick locks and break walls in order to reach the vault and grab all the money inside before one of the other players could.
There was one element in this early prototype that was really fun: You could set up bear traps that would snare other players, slowing them down and causing the guards to catch them. Around the same time, we were also playing a lot of Bomberman in the office. And its brand of pick-up-and-play fun and multiplayer battles was something we wanted in our game, too.
So we decided to re-think the game from scratch, stripping out complicated concepts like guards and surveillance cameras and focusing on one basic idea: thieves stealing money and attacking other players. Enter Dollar Dash!
We knew we wanted an animated look for Dollar Dash, with inspirations...
58w ago - XSeed Localization Specialist Tom Lipschultz has announced today that Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is coming this Winter alongside a sale on PSN tomorrow.
To quote: Corpse Party on PSP. What more can you say about it? In my previous PlayStation.Blog entries, I've likened it to horror classics such as Clock Tower and Fatal Frame.
I've talked about how it's one of the creepiest, most effective horror games I've ever played, and how its unique visuals, its 3D binaural audio and its storytelling methods help give it an uncomfortable, unforgettable atmosphere. And you, fair players... you agreed with me.
You played it late at night with headphones on, just as I suggested, and it kept you awake. It haunted your nightmares and made you jump every time your house creaked or your neighbor's kids smacked the wall... until you realized, wait a minute, I don't have any neighbors!
And then you were never heard from again...Presumably because you were too busy getting every wrong end in the game, of course. It's hard to resist the charm of those horrible, horrible deaths, after all! Call it morbid curiosity if you will, but we all know you, like Morishige, get a certain sadistic thrill out of seeing (or, more often, hearing) these characters you've come to know and love get killed,...
