Video: The Order: 1886 and the Weapons of War on PlayStation 4

5w ago - Ready At Dawn Studios CEO and Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya made available a video today from TGS 2014 spotlighting The Order: 1886 and the weapons of war on PlayStation 4.

Below are the details, to quote: We are extremely honored to be part of Tokyo Game Show 2014.

We've been humbled by the feedback we've received from all the Japanese fans and are excited to be here to reveal the next video in our Behind-the-Scenes series.

With a growing number of weapons manufacturers around the world and Nikola Tesla as their chief scientist, the Knights of the Order have a vast array of armament at their disposal.

The inclusion of Tesla into the game allowed us to ground many of the technological advancement we wanted to add to our history in reality. We used weapons based on existing technology in the Victorian-Era but also created others that stretched the realm of what was possible at the time.

Because our Industrial Revolution is a result of the war between Humans and Half-Breeds, many of the inventions of our timeline are primarily focused on ways to aid in this fight. Guns such as the Carbine, the Coach Gun or the Maschinenpistole are common occurrence in the game and represent the technology...

Video: Toy Soldiers: War Chest on PS4 - PlayStation 4 Hands-on

8w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman shared a PS4 video today showcasing Toy Soldiers: War Chest going hands-on with PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: If I'm frank, I wasn't really sure I was the right fit for this game. Mostly because I'd never played the earlier entries in the (well-respected) Toy Soldiers series, but also because toy collector culture doesn't much tickle my fancy.

So imagine my surprise when I went hands-on with Toy Soldiers: War Chest on PS4 and discovered not just a clever fusion of tower defense and third-person action, but a fiendishly addictive vortex that quickly reduced me to shrieking "kablammo! kablammo! boooosh!" while I bombarded hordes of rainbow ponies with mortars. Watch our new video above for the full story.

At its core, Toy Soldiers: War Chest is a classic tower defense game set in three-dimensional environments, a nice upgrade from the static 2D backdrops of most TD titles. You'll set up turrets in between waves of approaching enemies, feverishly upgrading and repairing them to prevent being overrun.

You earn gold by slaying incoming enemy hordes, then spend the proceeds on new specialized turrets (anti-armor, anti-infantry, anti-air) and fancy upgrades that increase your attack range, damage and so forth. So far, so good - it's...

War Thunder on PS4: PS Plus Starter Pack is Coming July 1st

17w ago - Gaijin Head of PR Alexander Trifonov announced that the PS Plus Starter Pack for War Thunder on PS4 is coming this July 1st with details below.

To quote: Beginning July 1st, all PlayStation Plus members will get a free plane in War Thunder on PS4: the P-36A Curtis Hawk of 2nd Lieutenant Philip Rasmussen, who earned a Silver Star while defending Pearl Harbor. Here's a little history behind it.

Philip Rasmussen awoke to the shouts and explosions of the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7th 1941. It was 8:00 AM when twenty-five Aichi D3A1 "Val" dive-bombers dived onto their targets at Wheeler field on the island of Oahu, their 250 kilogram bombs striking the maintenance hangars and P-40 and P36 fighters parked closely together on the flight line and strafing the barracks and tents, causing many casualties before leaving the battered airfield.

Сlad only in his purple silk pajamas, Rasmussen raced across the open ground to rescue what aircraft remained. He was joined by 1st Lieutenant Lewis Sanders with 2nd Lieutenants John Thacker and Gordon Sterling.

The four P-36A Curtiss Hawks took flight and soon saw eleven Japanese planes attacking the Bellows Air Fields. The group attacked, using the speed and surprise of the attack to their advantage. Rasmussen, however, soon found...

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is Out Today on PS4 and PS3

17w ago - Game and Level Designer Simon Chocquet-Bottani announced that Valiant Hearts: The Great War is out today on PS4 and PS3 platforms with details below.

To quote: Hello, my name is Simon Chocquet-Bottani, Game and Level Designer on Valiant Hearts: The Great War for PS4 and PS3, out today. When we started making Valiant Hearts, we immediately knew what sort of feelings we wanted the game to evoke.

That has been our guiding principle throughout the game development process. We tried to make a game that will captivate you and take you on an emotional journey. We also wanted to make sure we stayed true to history, so we built the basis of our story around real events and real places.

As we were moving through and creating prototypes, we recognized many aspects of the war we wanted to talk about. This brought us to the idea of creating not one, but four main characters, each of them with their own experiences and interpretations of the war.

By switching between the four characters, we're able to tell a story with several cliffhangers, as well as lighten the moments between happiness and sadness as needed. The art style fit this concept perfectly because it allowed us to take people on an emotional adventure where they could be laughing or crying at any period of time.

Gaijin Announces War Thunder PS4 is Out Today on PlayStation 4

20w ago - Gaijin Head of PR Alexander Trifonov announced that War Thunder PS4 is out today on PlayStation 4 with details below!

To quote: An online game lives or dies depending on the number of players. If there's no one to play with, then what's the point? This is especially true for competitive multiplayer game such as War Thunder - you need a strong player base so users can always find opponents according to their level, regardless of what nation they're playing, or which difficulty mode they chose.

This is why one of our ideas since the inception of War Thunder was to make it cross platform. Rather than try promoting the game to different audiences, it's better to provide the same experience for everyone.

Now, with the launch of War Thunder on PS4, we're finally able to realize this vision. Console players are using the same server as existing PC and Mac users, with all of the features available for everybody (user created content being the only exception).

The players can even form squads (up to 4 people) and fight together with their friends regardless of the platform or complete scenarios in co-op.

And besides minor tweaks to the interface, there's hardly any difference - PS4 has allowed us to create a beautiful game which is on par with the most powerful computers....
