Video: Sony Invites Gamers to a Little Bit of Friendly Competition

1w ago - Sony PlayStation Brand Marketing Senior Vice President Guy Longworth cordially invites PlayStation 4 gamers to a little bit of friendly PS4 competition today.

To quote: It is hard to believe that it has been nearly a year since [Register or Login to view links] arrived in stores.

Since then, we've seen the incredible passion of the PlayStation Nation, and plenty of new converts too, rise up in support of the connected social experience at the heart of the new console. To date, millions of screenshots and videos have been shared around the world, but perhaps the most important thing to be shared is the amazing experience that friends get when they play together.

There's something special about grabbing your PS4 controller, sitting down with a friend, and starting up a game. Whether side-by-side on the couch or online, there's nothing quite like getting ready for some real competitive or cooperative gaming.

Here at PlayStation we know that feeling very well, and always enjoy the chance to talk strategy with a friend the next day, or help them remember their defeat.

Our new video is dedicated to those...

Video: Chariot on PS4: Bringing Gamers Together on PlayStation 4

10w ago - Creative Lead and Programmer Philippe Dion posted up a PS4 video today which brings gamers together in Chariot on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hello everybody! My name is Philippe Dion; I'm the creative lead and also a programmer on [Register or Login to view links].

For those who don't know about the game yet, Chariot is a humorous, cooperative, physics-based platformer where a princess and her fiancÚ need to travel through a network of caves to find a resting place for their dead king, who takes the form of a hypochondriac ghost.

For now, I'm really excited to have this opportunity to share some of Chariot's vision with you.

Where it Came From

When I first presented the concept of Chariot, I envisioned a different kind of cooperative game. I found that the "co-op" concept in video games often boiled down to having a duplicate of the main character on the screen, resulting most of the time in a competition between players to get the highest score or lead the way.

If you've played co-op games before, then I assume you feel the same thing I do when playing with someone who never waits for you and/or who grabs...

Lords of the Fallen from CI Games Challenging Gamers at E3 2014

20w ago - CI Games Executive Producer Tomasz Gop announced today that Lords of the Fallen is challenging PlayStation 4 gamers at E3 2014.

To quote: Have you ever talked to a game developer about what E3 is? I mean, apart from the fact that it's the biggest industry event on the planet?

It lasts three days and the number of things that happen there usually take place over the course of many months. And then a switch flips once the Expo starts, you know?

The devs work hard before the event to prepare for making the best impressions possible, to show what's best in their games. Then when they get to LA, they put what they brought in front of the media and then it's the editors' turn to work around the clock to post up-to-date, relevant and interesting coverage. One would think this event is about developers and journalists, right? Well, no. It's about you, the gamer.

Last year's E3 was our first chance to show Lords of the Fallen to everyone. This time around it's our first chance to let people actually play it themselves, because this year we will be giving hands-on PS4 demos (also PC) in the CI Games meeting room. That's of course on top of all the live streams and demos that the dev team will be giving in the meantime.

I've seen a lot of people actually wonder if Lords...

Video: Velocity 2X on PS4: Learning From Gamers Like You

55w ago - FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden posted up a video today showcasing Velocity 2X on PS4 which outlines how the team leans from their audience of fellow gamers.

To quote: Hey folks. We had such a good time showcasing Velocity 2X at the Eurogamer Expo, we'd like to share our experience with you!

First of all, we managed to find the courage to jump on stage to talk about Velocity 2X in a Developer Session. For those who missed it, we talked about how we've approached making a PS Minis game desirable for PS4.

Velocity 2X takes everything that worked in Velocity Ultra and applies it to a side-scrolling platformer. That's right - in Velocity 2X you can get out of your ship to run around on foot.

You can also teledash through obstacles and throw a personal teleporter to reach high ledges and solve puzzles.

We've also revealed the new enemy in the series: the evil Vokh. They're massive, fast, and tricky to defeat because of their advanced shield technology. However, as you'll see from the video below, Kai's teledash creates a spacetime warp that disrupts their shield temporarily, allowing you to get some cheeky shots from behind! Watch some pre-alpha platforming gameplay here:

111w ago - Wired Productions Product Manager Sean Walsh has announced today that Let's Fish Hooked On aims to reel in PS Vita gamers.

To quote: Being our first, exclusive, collaboration with Sony, we are extremely proud to bring you Let's Fish!

Hooked On, the first full-scale fishing game on PS Vita, coming this autumn. So, being given the opportunity to speak directly to real gamers, we decided to share the game's first screenshots and artwork here.

Let's Fish! Hooked On, which was originally released in Japan, is developed by renowned Tokyo-based studio SIMS, whose games include SEGA Bass Fishing and PSP launch title Ape Escape.

If you hadn't guessed already, Let's Fish! Hooked On also has beautifully illustrated anime style artwork - designed by well-known Japanese artist Poyoyon Rock (whose most recent character design artwork was used for the manga series The World God Only Knows).

The game combines realistic fishing action with fast arcade-style gameplay and comes complete with a full story mode, which aims to make fishing fun for everyone.

Choosing between four different characters, each with their own storyline and unique skills, players are challenged to improve their skills and become World Champion by competing in a host of progressively more...
