Naughty Dog Details The Last of Us: Future PS3 DLC Plans

50°
43w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli has detailed The Last of Us future PS3 DLC plans for fans today.

To quote: We've been hard at work making the DLC content for The Last of Us - and I know that all our Season Pass holders are eagerly waiting for any updates or news. Today, we're revealing the first of three Season Pass DLC drops: the Abandoned Territories Map Pack.

Weather the opposing Faction and the random, dynamic dust storm on the Suburbs map. Explore a layered map of an overgrown urban environment with wild giraffes in the background in the Bus Depot map. Stalk around in a dark, eerie, moonlit, environment - the perfect setting for some serious stealth - in the Hometown map.

Bookstore features a stacked, bi-level layout adding a highly unique dose of vertical gameplay. Excited yet? These maps will be available October 15.

When we initially talked about the [Register or Login to view links] we mentioned making our first ever story-driven single player DLC. This is an ambitious story with strong ties into the narrative of The Last of Us.

We just wrapped up a long casting process for a new character, and we're starting our performance capture...

The Past, Present, and Future of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

200°
47w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe French Community Manager Aurelie Reman shared an interview today covering the past, present, and future of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn below.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] launches tomorrow on PS3. To celebrate the launch, PlayStation.Blog sat down with Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida to talk over A Realm Reborn's long gestation and epic ambitions.

PlayStation.Blog: Which element of A Realm Reborn is most going to surprise PlayStation players?

Naoki Yoshida: I think one of the big things will be the amazing graphics, which really push the limits of PS3's technical capabilities, as well as the fact that this is an MMORPG experience. Also, MMORPGs are most usually controlled using a keyboard and mouse, but our Cross Hot Bar system we've developed specifically for the DualShock allows for smooth and exciting play, so that's another area of interest for PS3 players.

PSB: What improvements have you made since the original PC release of Final Fantasy XIV?

Yoshida: I think that improvements can be roughly split into three areas: to regain the trust of the players, to fundamentally rebuild the game experience from the ground up, and - most...

59w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared details today on The Last of Us in which Neil Druckmann offers his insight on creating a future PS3 classic.

To quote: As many of you will have seen, the review scores are finally in for The Last of Us - the brand new PS3 title from Uncharted studio Naughty Dog.

At the time of writing, its Metacritic score sits at a mighty 95/100, cementing its place as one of the very finest video games of this console generation. Perfect scores came in from some of the toughest critics in the business, including Eurogamer, Edge and Videogamer.

In just seven days' time you'll be able to judge for yourself, but in the meantime I caught up with the game's Creative Director Neil Druckmann to delve into the project's origins, its development and the studio's thoughts on the finished product.

He was in fine form - just as we started talking, he was handed an early print-out of the very first review - that Edge 10/10. Read on for some great insight into video game development at the very highest level.

Neil, you've been tasked with creating a brand new IP and following the hugely successful Uncharted series. Do you feel much pressure on your shoulders?

Neil Druckmann: Absolutely, just because it's a new position...

Watch_Dogs for PS4 and PS3: Details on the Future-Tech Action Epic

200°
63w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared details today on Watch_Dogs for PS4 and PS3 detailing the the future-tech action epic below.

To quote: Watch_Dogs's dark vision of technological totalitarianism is heading to PS3 and PS4, and we were lucky enough to see the first live gameplay demo in San Francisco earlier this week (played on a DualShock 4, no less!). We've carefully studied the footage, asked pressing questions, and present you with this breakdown.

1. Aiden Pierce isn't your typical videogame protagonist

"Aiden is a man with a dark past who has made questionable choices," Lead Story Designer Kevin Shortt explained in our first live gameplay demo.Growing up in Chicago, Aiden used his technical prowess to infiltrate bank accounts and access surveillance systems, becoming something of a vigilante. Naturally, these pursuits earned him some powerful enemies on both sides of the law.

As you play Watch_Dogs, you won't be choosing between stark extremes on some binary morality scale, but defining where Aiden resides on much murkier spectrum of acceptability.

2. Chicago isn't your typical videogame city

We've all played open-world action games where cities feel more like a collection of giant painted boxes than a...

66w ago - Following up on the previous update, today I (Daveyshamble501) have made available a Code Unique v2.3 Back to the Future Mod dubbed Back to the Cheater for PS3 3.55 CFW alongside a video demo below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

This is my mod of code unique for jailbroken PS3's running 3.55 custom firmware. Here's a little modification that I call Back to the Cheater with time machine icons an backgrounds as well as music on the XMB and in the app itself.

Everything works perfect an updating the app is still done via ftp changing the ''st.dat'' file. This is only a cosmetic mod an non of the internal files have not been touched. The music is in the USRDIR under boot.mp3 if you don't want it you can delete it...

Here's a video showing what the mod is:

I hope you enjoy this little mod...
