Your First Look at Fire-fighting Roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita

50°
17w ago - Laughing Jackal Senior Producer Alasdair Evans shared a first look at fire-fighting roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita.

To quote: Hi everyone. I'm Al, Producer at Laughing Jackal and project lead on our latest game, Flame Over for PlayStation Vita.

We initially revealed we were working on Flame Over back in August 2013 but after that, all communication ceased (for which I offer my apologies.) Needless to say, tons of stuff has happened since then, so here's a reminder of what you can expect when the game is released later this year!

Flame Over is a fire-fighting action roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels, twin stick controls, fast-paced gameplay, permadeath and dynamic fire that burns, spreads and threatens the player (and other NPCs) in some cool ways.

Your objective in Flame Over is simple. Just guide your heroic fire fighter, Blaze Carruthers, up through the floors of the Infernal Industries building in London, extinguishing all fires and rescuing all the stranded workers and - naturally - their pet cats as you go.

As you guide Blaze through this mazelike building on your quest to put out the deadly inferno and save the day, you'll move through four different zones, each with their own unique features and hazards.

On top of its original...

Video: Dragon's Crown: Fighting Together on PS3 and PS Vita

51w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements posted up a video today spotlighting fighting together in Dragon's Crown on PS3 and PS Vita below.

To quote: The kingdom is boiling in war all around you, and brigands threaten the crown just as much as the encroaching orc forces.

But you, noble adventurer, have loot to earn and treasure to find. You have swords to wield and spells to sling! Welcome to Dragon's Crown. Your adventure begins next week.

Dragon's Crown, from the developers at [Register or Login to view links], follows in the footsteps of Odin Sphere and Muramasa Rebirth. It blends eye-popping, hand-drawn animation with RPG-fueled combat.

An ambitious project, Dragon's Crown features six characters for players to select, and a bevy of stages to fight through. Though there are chests to open and skills to learn, the combat in Dragon's Crown is more like a side-scrolling brawler. A brawler you can invite your friends to!

Dragon's Crown encourages four-player cooperative play on both PS3 and PS Vita. You and your fellow adventurers can brave the dark and dangerous labyrinths together, building characters to complement each other's skills, or tempting fate with difficult combinations. Want to dive into a dungeon with four wizards?...

Divekick: The Fighting Community Phenomenon Comes to PSN

50°
69w ago - Divekick Creator Adam "Keits" Heart has confirmed that the fighting community phenomenon Divekick is coming to PSN.

To quote: Divekick began as a late night joke. I asked aloud to my friend Stephen, "What if there was a game called Divekick, and the characters were Dive and Kick, and the buttons were Dive and Kick?"

He shot up and proudly announced to me that he could make such a game, and by morning we had a design document and we were ready to start. I didn't know it when I made the joke, but Stephen apparently knows enough to code a game!

As we developed the prototype, it became clear that this game was a great tool to clearly explain how deep a single move can really be, and that the high-stress, high-tension gameplay was keeping our test groups hooked. We couldn't get rid of them! We would invite a test group in for a four-hour session, and after fourteen hours they'd still be there laughing and raging at each other.

I'm so excited to finally show what we've been working on to the public. You just really have to try it for yourself to understand what it is all about! We've been playing it every day in serious competition in the Iron Galaxy office after lunch for six months now.

As our players' skill increases, and the number of mistakes they...

Video: Killzone Intercept Q&A: Fighting the Helghast on Film

100°
88w ago - Community Editor Victor Zuylen has posted up a video today which spotlights fighting the Helghast on film alongside a Killzone Intercept Q&A below.

To quote: Killzone Intercept is a fan-made live action short set during the ISA evacuation of Helghan in Killzone 3.

The 14-minute film follows a small ISA squad as they're ordered to prevent a large contingent of Helghast troops from intercepting the retreating ISA convoy. Outnumbered, the squad takes on the task with hopes of getting everyone off the planet alive.

Since its release on the Internet last week, Killzone Intercept has been a small sensation among Killzone fans and novices alike.

At the time of writing, the fan film has amassed nearly 170,000 views - and it's not showing signs of slowing down. We got in touch with director (and longtime Killzone fan) Brian Curtin to find out how Killzone Intercept came together.

PlayStation.Blog: Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get started making fan films?

Brian Curtin, Director of Killzone Intercept:
I consider myself an Art Director/Graphic Designer by day and Independent Filmmaker by night. I've always been interested in the arts. Early...
