Free Access to Online Multiplayer for All PS4 Players This Weekend

4w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer announced free access to online multiplayer via PlayStation Plus for all PS4 players this weekend with details below!

To quote: Even though it's only Monday, we've got something for PS4 gamers to look forward to this weekend. Starting Friday, September 26 at 12:01am Pacific through Sunday, September 28 at 11:59pm Pacific [Register or Login to view links] is opening up online multiplayer to our PS4 owners, so you all can play with your friends.

This gives owners of recent titles like Destiny, Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15 and Diablo III a chance to try out their great multiplayer components.

Simply log on during those times, fire up a game and enjoy playing with your pals. Although we're opening up the multiplayer portion of PlayStation Plus, our members receive a lot more than just that.

35w ago - Bethesda Softworks Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff announced today that Wolfenstein: The New Order is out on 5/20 and invites fans to pre-order for Doom Beta access with details below.

To quote: The FPS legend that started it all returns this May! Today we're excited to announce that Wolfenstein: The New Order will arrive on both PS4 and PS3 on Tuesday, May 20th.

And while we're not talking about the game yet, we're excited to announce that with a pre-order of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will be able to access the beta for the next DOOM game (details at [Register or Login to view links]).

Wolfenstein marks the first Bethesda-published game to arrive on PS4, and will be available on PlayStation Store day 1 for both PS4 & PS3. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Early Access Starts This Weekend

61w ago - Square Enix Senior Online Community Manager Matt Hilton announced today that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn early access officially starts this weekend!

To quote: Yep, that's right, it's finally here. [Register or Login to view links] has been rebuilt from the ground up, and adventurers the world over will be able to begin their journey throughout Eorzea tomorrow with the start of Early Access, ahead of Tuesday's official launch.

It's a massively exciting time for the whole team, and we'd like to thank everybody that's been involved in the beta phases until now. We really appreciate the enormous feedback and support sent along the way.

And for those of you who haven't yet pre-ordered, it's not too late. Order now (or any time before August 27th) and you'll still be able to get in Early Access - a headstart on your new adventure into Eorzea.

PlayStation 4 / PS4 Developers Rumored to Access 7GB GDDR5 RAM

80w ago - While it is currently rumored that Sony will unveil PlayStation 4 later this month of in early May, today PS4Daily (linked above) reports that while the PS4 will ship with 8GB of GDDR5 memory, developers will only have access to 7GB of RAM.

Below are the details, to quote: "The PlayStation 4 will ship with a massive 8 GB of GDDR5 memory, which is a huge upgrade compared to the current generation consoles. However, according to a PlayStation 4 developer PS4Daily spoke to, they have access to “only” 7 GB of RAM. The remaining 1 GB is reserved for the operating system and background tasks.

Sony showcased a lot of PlayStation 4 features during the unveiling in February. This includes deep social features running in the background, new sharing options where players can watch each other play, and background downloading of games. All this chews up quite a bit of memory. Still, having access to 7 GB of super-fast GDDR5 memory is a lot better than the 512 MB in the PS3.

Sony originally shipped dev kits to third party developers with only 4 GB RAM, and kept the true RAM amount secret from third party developers in order to keep it secret from Microsoft as well. Developers...
