Video: Eliminage Original Brings Deep RPG Customization to PSP Today

50°
26w ago - UFO Interactive Games Producer Andrew Wang has shared a video today announcing that Eliminage Original brings deep RPG customization to PSP today.

To quote: I think RPG gamers need no introduction to the concept of customization. In Elminage Original, the customization options are... abundant, to say the least.

There are 12 character races and 16 classes to choose from, so players will be able to tailor their party to suit their specific play styles.

Elminage Original is a dungeon-crawling RPG, and it doesn't try to hide it. It doesn't waste time hand-holding, and it lets you jump into the action very quickly if you so choose.

Parties are formed in groups of six, so whether you think you'll do better with Humans, Fairies, Werebeasts, or Magic Dolls, you can rest assured that there are plenty of combinations to try!

Customization is a big reason why I love RPG's. When I start to play a new RPG, I tend to get caught up when I'm allowed an unlimited amount of time to grind and discover new tactics, and I spend way too many hours doing so. I'm sure that some of you reading this know exactly what I am talking about.

In the case of Elminage Original, I even spent time customizing my entire party to make sure that they all had matching themed portraits....

Video: The Unfinished Swan Dev Diary: Original Music & Sound

50°
32w ago - Composer Joel Corelitz has shared a Developer Diary video today spotlighting The Unfinished Swan original music and sound alongside a list below of ten things fans should know!

To quote: At its core, The Unfinished Swan is about the joy of creation and self-discovery. These themes revolve around two central characters: one young, who has dealt with great loss and loneliness, and one old, who must reconcile his current stage of life as well as his fate.

One of the initial conversations I had with Peter Scaturro, music supervisor at the Santa Monica Studio involved using the key components of the score to offset the melancholy of the story. I consciously steered away from anything that felt too sad, stark or desolate. Instead,

I focused on crafting a mood that was lush, curious, and warm. We wanted the music to serve as a companion for Monroe and the player as they explored the world of the game. To achieve this, I chose to highlight certain instruments and sounds that were inspired by the characters themselves.

Monroe's signature sound is played by plucked and mallet instruments like marimba and harp - youthful, resonant sounds that highlight his innocence as well as the storybook-quality of the game. The bizarre, pompous King is heralded by gritty, electronic harpsichord...

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Q&A: Time Traveling Sequel Surpasses Original

500°
75w ago - Sony Brazil Manager Fabio Santana has posted up a Q&A interview today covering Final Fantasy XIII-2 for PlayStation 3, which aims to prove the time traveling sequel even surpasses the original game!

To quote: This week, Final Fantasy XIII-2 for PS3 is hitting stores across Japan with critical praise, garnering perfect scores from respected gaming magazines Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation.

Granted, the original FFXIII is the best-selling PS3 title in Japan by a wide margin, but this direct sequel isn't resting on the laurels of its predecessor. For starters, it will offer a dynamic narrative, addressing one of the main complaints about FFXIII - linearity.

The new game also has a darker and more serious tone, in line with the conclusion of the previous game, putting the glitter and glam of FFX-2.

When FFXIII-2 reaches US stores on January 31st, making it the fastest localization cycle among numbered episodes of the franchise - it will also deliver an improved combat system, an area full of mini games, branched dialogue trees with NPCs, and even multiple endings based on your time-traveling journey.

To learn more about how Square Enix plans to "exceed Final Fantasy XIII in every aspect,"...

PS3 Bluetooth Headset is Going Slim, Same Price as Original

200°
133w ago - Similar to the PlayStation 3 Slim, today Kotaku.com (linked above) reports that the PS3 Bluetooth Headset is also going slim with the price remaining the same as the original model, later confirmed by Sony Peripherals Product Manager Anand Agarwal.

To quote: "A reader sent us this promo sleeve for the PlayStation 3 Bluetooth headset earlier this week, which now appears to be sporting a slimmer, sleeker design than the original model.

Not only has the ear clasp been made thinner, but the front buttons and indicators have been cleaned up too. The material also clearly states that this is an official Sony product, not a third-party offering.

The feature set on the back of the box has no new features compared to the existing version, so it appears to be a simple aesthetic upgrade for a device that was looking a little, well, clunky as we push on towards 2011.

As the box says, it'll be priced at $50, which is the same as the existing model."

Kojima to Create an Original Game After Peace Walker and Rising

100°
188w ago - Although Hideo Kojima is best known for Metal Gear Solid, the famous game designer thought about leaving the series a couple of times.

He may finally get a chance to do something else after the completion of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

Speaking through a translator, Hideo Kojima revealed what his future plans might be once the two aforementioned games are completed in a recent video interview with the European PlayStation.Blog:

To quote: "It will be kind of too late if I start thinking about after I've finished with Peace Walker and Rising. I'll probably have to plan before. But I always want to do my next original title and that's always on my mind. And, as I said before, I could kind of produce some other titles such as Zone of the Enders and I will like to plan that doing the producer side and also creating my original new title."

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be released sometime in 2010 for the PSP while Metal Gear Solid: Rising has no release date for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360."
