207w ago - The second Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising downloadable content - the 'Overwatch' pack - will be available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft today and will follow shortly for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and PC, Codemasters has announced.
The 'Overwatch' DLC delivers two game-changing multiplayer modes and new Fire Team Engagement (FTE) missions.
Press Release: Monday 21st December... Showcasing the new content and modes featuring in the DLC, a new 'Overwatch' gameplay video is now available from www.flashpointgame.com. Players are shown engaged in electrifying combat, deploying a range of military assets from short and long range weaponry to armour and helicopters in tense battles for superiority in the new game modes and FTEs.
The 'Overwatch' DLC extends the unique Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising experience in solo, co-operative and adversarial play. In new multiplayer mode Blindside the PLA must complete objectives in the shortest time possible while the USMC defends in tense, tactical engagements. An additional new mode, Supremacy, tasks opposing forces to occupy strategically vital positions featuring force multipliers like gun emplacements and air strikes.
217w ago - The team behind Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising have stated that DLC will be coming to the PS3, XBox 360 and PC in a matter of weeks for the game.
Codemasters' Sion Lenton, Exec Producer, revealed the following in an interview with Telegraph, to quote:
"We've got some very ambitious plans with DLC - our first pack is coming up in a matter of weeks. We'll also have title updates coming up because once the game's out there, we'll need to get feedback from the people who are playing it, and if need be make a few adjustments and tweaks.
Our team are already prototyping all sorts of stuff to be released as DLC and we're really excited about it. It's a really different type of market now; I remember five or six years ago, you'd get a game, finish it, put it back on the shelf and that was it.
But now it's almost as though the game's release is just the beginning, really. Ours is a game that lends itself very well to expansion - there will be weapons packs, map packs - all sorts of things we can do to get our product out there."
226w ago - Today several new Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising videos were released in their community forums (linked above).
Dubbed 'Blinding The Dragon', 'Hardcore Mode' and 'Take The Beach' they feature key members of the development team, marking the first in a series of developer videos that are going to take you behind the scenes of the development of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.
In an interview with Codemasters' Tim Browne, multi-platform DLC support is detailed as well- to quote:
"The console users will be able to use those vehicles at different times, but obviously we do have plans for DLC, and some of this is going to be free DLC, so people who are like, "Why do the console gamers have to pay to use something the PC gamers can use for free?", that's not necessarily true because we do have plans for free DLC as well.
The community has supported us for the long and we want to give something back to the community as a sort of thank you. So what we want do is, we want to bring out DLC, we want to support the community, we want to have competitions and things like that based around missions - I'll leave that up to your imagination."
