Video: Okami HD Hits PSN Today, Watch the Launch Trailer Now

200°
29w ago - Capcom Marketing Manager Tristan Corbett has posted up the launch trailer for Okami HD announcing that it is hitting PSN today!

To quote: At long last I'm pleased to share that the great goddess Amaterasu is ready to save the world once again! Okami HD is launching on PSN today in North America and will be available to download for $19.99 later today with the PlayStation Store update.

In case anyone needs it, here's a quick refresher on all the things we've added to Okami HD:

• The critically acclaimed classic brought to new life on PS3
Full native 1080p visuals brings Okami's stunning visuals into the HD era
• PlayStation Move motion controller support allows players to enjoy the celestial brush in new and intuitive ways
• Trophy Support, including a Platinum trophy, gives players all new challenges to complete

I'd like to extend a big thanks to the PSN community as well as PlayStation.Blog for all their support for Okami HD. Your support helped make this project happen and it is greatly appreciated!

I can say for myself that this title was hands down the most fun I've had working on any project here at Capcom. I hope you all enjoy the game as much as we've enjoyed bringing it to you.

Okami HD at Comic-Con: Amaterasu Unleashed with Move, 1080p

50°
44w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared details today of Okami HD from Comic-Con: Amaterasu Unleashed which includes PlayStation Move support and 1080p!

To quote: San Diego Comic-Con doesn't want for distractions - famous graphic novelists greet their fans, uber-limited edition collectables line sprawling tables, and cosplayers roam the halls by the thousands.

When I learned that Capcom would be showing Okami HD at their booth, all of those attractions quickly dropped in importance; I knew where my Comic-Con would kick off.

Mere seconds after the doors of the San Diego Convention Center opened for business, Capcom's Tristan Corbett handed me a PlayStation Move motion controller and I beheld Japanese sun goddess-turned-canine Amaterasu in full HD glory for the first time.

Not all HD remakes are created equal, but Hexa Drive's effort clearly isn't just a soulless re-processing. With the PS3's hardware muscle to play with, they're working to improve draw distance and load times over the PS2 original.

The cel-shaded visuals up-rez quite nicely, with the game's iconic bold, black outline strokes popping off the HD display. All cutscenes have been fully recreated, and areas of the game that the team felt weren't...

Video: Okami HD Hits PS3 with PlayStation Move Support This Fall

400°
48w ago - Capcom Marketing Manager Tristan Corbett has announced today that Okami HD is coming exclusively to PS3 complete with PlayStation Move support this Fall.

Below is a video of it in action, and to quote: I'm pleased to confirm that this fall, gamers will be able to return to the land of Nippon in Okami HD, exclusively on the PS3 with PlayStation Move support.

Initially released to critical acclaim on the PS2, Okami HD has the player take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, who inhabits the form of a wolf.

After a tyrannical monster, Orochi, turns the world into a ruined, colorless wasteland, Amaterasu must use her magical abilities to restore the land to its previous glory and defeat the demon in charge of the destruction.

Okami HD brings Amaterasu's epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. I did not think it was possible to make the game look even better, but when I saw it for myself, I was a believer.

The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD, allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in more detail than ever before. Check out the trailer above to see what I'm talking...

One of the PS2's greatest titles is scheduled for release on the Wii

300°
278w ago - One of the biggest surprises of the PS2 game library for a lot of people was Okami. Lauded by both game critics and gamers alike, Okami proved that what people really wanted was something different.

Sure, a good Resident Evil title was always a plus, and God of War is an excellent series, but haven't we seen stuff like that before? Okami was unique because it honestly did implement a gameplay mechanic that nobody had ever seen before.

And now, Wii owners are getting a chance to experience the magic of Okami in a remake of the PS2 classic, with some awesome Wii additions (namely, the control scheme) thrown in.

Even the premise of Okami is incredibly unique -- you play as a god in the form of a wolf tasked with bringing life back to a dying world. The story was surprisingly good in the PS2 version of the game, and one aspect that really helped it out was the fantastically-written dialogue.

The same certainly holds true for the Wii version, which features a wonderfully full-fledged storyline and fantastic writing. Characters are diverse and varied, each with their unique personalities, and make the game all the more enjoyable to play.
