65w ago - Sony Handheld Consoles Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation Director Don Mesa has announced that PS3 Remote Play is bringing God of War, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collections to PS Vita owners today!
To quote: We've got some great news for PS Vita owners today concerning Remote Play, the application that enables you to interact remotely with PS3 using your PS Vita and a Wi-Fi connection.
Starting today, PS3 owners will be able to download an update for God of War Collection and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection that will enable these classic games to be played from their PS Vita using the Remote Play function.
So what does this mean? It means you'll be able to enjoy two classic HD collections almost anywhere, whether you're around your PS3 or not, from the comfort of your PS Vita and a Wi-Fi signal. Both collections include customizable control options, so you can choose to have the R2 and L2 buttons from your PS3 mapped to PS Vita's rear touchpad.
This is great news because God of War, God of War II, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus represent some of the most beloved and acclaimed titles in videogaming – and both collections look stunning...
98w ago - This weekend Spanish user homer49 has posted some videos on YouTube of PlayStation Vita allegedly running several games via Remote Play with PS3 Custom Firmware (CFW) 3.55 and 3.41.
Titles demonstrated below include Red Dead Redemption, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Alice: Madness Returns, and Mortal Kombat supposedly running on the PS Vita handheld console.
To quote from PlayStationLifeStyle.net (linked above): Another element of intrigue also comes in at the 1:53 mark of the Batman: Arkham Asylum video, which appears to show how the PS3's controls are mapped to the Vita's inputs.
He did leave an unclear, cryptic message at the beginning of the Alice video in response to claims that his videos are fake, which makes no sense even when translated:
Is it remote play? Obviously, yes. Is it fake? Did you have a dream? That maybe it was so real you couldn't distinguish it from reality. And if you couldn't wake up from this dream, how would you know if you're not dreaming? One more time, Sony does not tell the truth.

105w ago - Following up on the previous report by Eurogamer, today Sony Computer Entertainment Senior VP Yoshio Matsumoto and Division 2 Software Development Head Muneki Shimada denied the report meaning there isn't a universal solution planned for making all PS3 games playable remotely on PS Vita.
To quote via Andriasang.com (linked above): "Freelance journalist Munechika Nishida conducted an interview with Sony's PlayStation Vita development staff for the latest installment of his "Random Tracking" series at Impress Watch.
He asked Sony Computer Entertainment Senior VP Yoshio Matsumoto and Division 2 Software Development Head Muneki Shimada about the reports.
"That information is mistaken," said Matsumoto. "The compatibility is achieved on the side of the PS3 game, just like normal."
Shimada agreed, saying that as with previous implementations of Remote Play, games will need API support."
106w ago - Previously we reported on a leaked document revealing PS3-Vita connectivity followed by some PS Vita PS3 Remote Play demo videos from TGS 2011, and today Eurogamer (linked above) reports that a PS3 Firmware update will enable PlayStation Vita Remote Play on all games.
To quote: "A future PlayStation 3 Firmware update will enable Vita Remote Play on all games, Eurogamer has learnt. However, this will be only at the PlayStation Portable 480x272 resolution, which will be upscaled to fill the screen.
For future games, developers will be able to include Vita specific 480p modes, Eurogamer understands. Vita's OLED display is actually capable of displaying games at 960x544 pixel resolution.
Vita Remote Play is how Sony's new handheld interacts with the PS3.
In a Tokyo Game Show demonstration Sony's Shuhei Yoshida played a brief section of Killzone 3 streamed into the device from a PlayStation 3 unit, noting how a few of the Dual Shock buttons missing on the Vita are mapped to the touchscreen.
