153w ago - Below is a report from the Nintendo Wii E3 2010 press conference, which unfortunately debunked the rumor of a Wii HiFi HD console announcement.

The first game "Zelda: Skyward Sword" was shown with huge technical difficulties (video below). The wireless controllers were not being received by the Wii and the presentation was cut a bit shorter than planned.

Then a new Mario game was announced called "Mario Sports Mix" which features Mario, and all of the characters we associate with him, playing games like basketball, Hockey, Dodgeball, and volleyball.

Then Nintendo introduced Wii party. Wii party allows families to play each other using their own personal Miis created by them.

After that a game by Ubisoft called "Just Dance 2" made its announced comeback to the Wii. Then a game which no one had heard about since E3 2009 was announced with gameplay and that is "Golden Sun Dark Dawn".

A huge announcement came when Nintendo showed an actual group of gamers being asked about a game which had not been mentioned yet.

That game, after the group said it invented multiplayer was revealed and it is "James Bond Goldeneye". It will be released this holiday season...

154w ago - According to French site Gameblog.fr (linked above), Nintendo is planning to announce the previously rumored Wii 2 which is codenamed Wii HiFi at E3 2010 next week.

To quote from the site, roughly translated: "But beware, according to our information from developers, the 3DS should not be the only machine unveiled by Nintendo.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the manufacturer would conclude his lecture by unveiling its next home console, named Wii is currently code HiFi!

We learn in the aftermath the next home console from Big N would be calibrated for release in November 2011.

• It would have a power similar to that of an Xbox 360
• It should not be called "Wii 2", but Wii HiFi (in any case the code name leaked)
• It would be very oriented online
• One of the main features is the community
• It would be released in November 2011"

186w ago - According to Artik of French site Logic-sunrise.com, the Nintendo Wii 2 is allegedly set to arrive in 2010 and include Blu-ray and 1080p support.

This rumor appears to stem from an internal source of the marketing department at Nintendo France, however, little information is available to substantiate it unfortunately.

To quote from Ripten (linked above): "It could be that it wasn't posted on the French site itself although that wouldn't make much sense.

All in all, the rumored "leak" states that Nintendo is working on a Wii sequel with the following:

• The Wii2 system will feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy.
• 1080P and lower resolutions will be supported, for blu-ray movies and games.
• The release date is scheduled for third quarter of 2010.
• The release will be worldwide and on the same day for all countries.
• A scheme will be available in which it is possible to trade in the original Wii for a cheaper price on the new Wii 2."

228w ago - Ah Nintendo, the little games company that took off over the fence and hasn't looked back since. To say that Nintendo's recent success is surprising would be a massive understatement.

The have managed to tap into an audience that Microsoft and Sony can only dream of trying to reach - it really is quite amazing.

Of all the big players, Nintendo is in the enviable position of not actually needing to worry about releasing a new console - after all, when you're selling Wiis faster than stores can stock them, why bother spending more money on another console?

Having said that, we believe, given Nintendo's past hardware release trends, that a Wii 2 (or 1.5) may come sooner than expected- Nintendo Console Releases:
