The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Brings Occult Mystery to PS4

2w ago - The Astronauts founder Adrian Chmierlarz announced today at Gamescom 2014 that The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is bringing Occult Mystery to PS4!

To quote: Hi! We are [Register or Login to view links], an eight-person team founded by the guys who, years ago, also founded People Can Fly, creators of Painkiller and [Register or Login to view links].

However, the game we are making right now could not be more different from what we've made in the past.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a story-driven mystery game that focuses entirely on exploration and discovery, featuring no combat or explosions of any kind. If our game leaves any scars, you won't be able to see them.

You play the game as Paul Prospero, an occult-minded detective who receives a disturbing letter from Ethan Carter. Realizing the boy is in grave danger, Paul arrives at Ethan's home of Red Creek Valley, where things turn out to be even worse than he imagined. Ethan has vanished in the wake of a brutal murder, which Paul quickly discerns might not be the only murder to investigate.

As I hope you can see from this short description, we're trying to mix pulp and horror into one cohesive experience. And...

Solve the Mystery of Mountain Crime: Requital on PSN Today

50°
65w ago - Alawar Entertainment Product Manager Polina Belavskaya officially invites fans to solve the mystery of Mountain Crime: Requital on PSN today.

To quote: Hello Dr. White, and welcome to Mountain Crime: Requital, a game full of questions to be answered. The only help you will have is fragments of old letters, memos, somewhat puzzling conversations with guests, and your wits.

Dr. White must investigate a "locked room mystery" after a phone call that brings him to the remote White Wolf Hotel. He drives to the "Wolf" to rescue a heart attack victim. He barely survives a car crash on a bridge to start a really bad trip. Ouch!

This version of the game is complemented by new controls, a redesigned main menu, and tactile sensations. You, Doctor, can drag objects found during the game using the wireless controller or PlayStation Move - depending on your preference - and when you find an object the controller will emit a congratulatory buzz.

One tip: The puzzles, which are easy in the beginning, gradually become more and more challenging. This adventure might surprise even hardcore criminals - pardon me - players; it's a rich adventure in the best traditions of the hidden object genre.

If you'd like to try something different from the ordinary PlayStation 3 fare, take...

Video: Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery Camps Out on PS Vita

67w ago - Lucid Games Founder Nick Davies announced today alongside a video that Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery camps out on PS Vita today.

To quote: Today we're launching Episode 1 of Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery on PS Vita for just $2.99, bringing the quirky adventures of title character Jacob in the most memorable summer of his life at Camp Eagle Feather.

Eagle Feather's counselors aren't the sensible, parental figures you'd want supervising a camp filled with unruly kids. In fact, the counselors have developed a suspicious fixation, making sure every camper is well fed... extremely well fed.

Let's meet some of the characters you'll run into along the way:

•Mr. Grimmel, head of Physical Education - For someone who appears to have a pathological hatred for kids, working at a summer camp doesn't exactly seem like the perfect career choice for Mr. Grimmel. Cross him at your own peril...

•Mr. Thagorous, head of Science - What's going on inside the science lab at Camp Eagle Feather? It all seems a little more dangerous than your typical school chemistry lab.

•Mr. Hans, Groundsman - He seems friendly enough but he's obsessed with the gophers digging up his well-maintained grounds, so obsessed in fact, he's taking drastic measures to...

Video: New Diggs Nightcrawler Footage: Who Bumped Humpty?

69w ago - London Studio Producer Nathan Baseley shared some new Diggs Nightcrawler video footage alongside details below, as follows:

Hello again everyone, and time for another update on our murder mystery.

In this diary we introduce our hero, Diggs Nightcrawler, a bookworm private detective from Library City. Diggs is a stoic, dyed-in-the-wool character whose external cool is challenged mere moments after you open the book and arrive in his office.

He's always worked alone, and that's done him just fine... until now. Throughout the course of the adventure, circumstances conspire against Diggs and he'll rely more and more on your help.

With Diggs' trust earned, together you can solve the mystery of who bumped Humpty and restore harmony to Library City.

Creating a truly narrative-driven game presented some unique challenges. The story, characters and world were crafted specifically with Wonderbook in mind.

We knew from day one that we could use the PlayStation Eye camera to put the player into the same physical space as the game characters, and that the player would then have control over the game world by manipulating the Wonderbook.

This yielded a natural division...

70w ago - Lucid Games Founder Nick Davies announced today alongside a video trailer that Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery is coming soon to PS Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery is an episodic PS Vita adventure brimming with weird and wonderful characters and a host of brain teasing puzzles.

We're delighted to show you some screens from the game, and give you some insight into the world of Jacob Jones.

So firstly, the polite thing to do would be to introduce you to our hero, although he's a slightly younger hero than you may be used to. Without further ado, meet Jacob Jones, the latest arrival at Camp Eagle Feather, the newest and best Summer Camp.

Now Jacob isn't one to mix with other kids - he prefers the great outdoors and the company of his parents, so spending his summer with a load of weird kids at Summer Camp isn't exactly his idea of fun. However, when he stumbles upon the mysterious Bigfoot, his summer takes on a whole new twist.

Developed using the powerful Unreal Engine 3, it has a charming visual style and a artistically unique world which is inhabited by vinyl toy characters. Coupled with this we have all of the technical bells and whistles...
