14w ago - Ovosonico Studios Founder Massimo Guarini shared a PS Vita launch video announcing that Murasaki Baby is out today exclusively on PlayStation Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: Hey everybody, it's Massimo Guarini here from Ovosonico! To celebrate the launch of [Register or Login to view links] today, I'm bringing you another developer diary.

It's a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Murasaki Baby, which is out now exclusively for PS Vita for $14.99. PS Plus members can pick it up for 20% off / $11.99 during the first week only!

During development, our main focus has been on the interaction with Baby, wanted to make her feel alive to the player so that they could form an emotional bond with her and want to protect her from harm. The simple act of leading her by the hand is one of the areas we spent most development time on, with our focus on making it as believable and lifelike as possible.

We all are passionate about bringing craftsmanship to making games and not just relying on technology. The game has a strong hand drawn style, but this isn't just an effect, almost everything...

PS Vita Exclusive Murasaki Baby is Coming September 16th, 2014

15w ago - Ovosonico Studios Founder Massimo Guarini announced today that PS Vita exclusive title Murasaki Baby is coming to PlayStation Vita on September 16th, 2014.

To quote: Hi everyone, Massimo Guarini here from Ovosonico Studios! Over the coming weeks we're going to be releasing three developer diaries, sharing insight into Ovosonico Studio, [Register or Login to view links], and the unique music behind the game.

This first dev diary is a deeper look into Ovosonico Studio, its creation, and the team. We're also pleased to announce that Murasaki Baby will be coming exclusively to PlayStation Vita on September 16th, 2014 for $14.99. If you're a Plus member, get it 20% off during the first week for only $11.99!

I founded the studio when I came back from Japan, about 2011. I felt it was the right time for me to risk everything and try to set up a studio. We started pitching ideas to publishers in general and one of those was Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. The funny thing is that we were pitching a completely different game.

After some months of back and forth, and flying to London and Liverpool, I happened to have in...

Video: Murasaki Baby Hands-on: Strange New Worlds on PS Vita

50°
17w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman shared a hands-on video today which explores the strange new worlds in Murasaki Baby on PS Vita.

To quote: Here's the thing about PS Vita exclusive Murasaki Baby: it's one of the strangest, most subversive games I've played.

It seems like studio Ovosonico designed it to deliberately get under the skin of established game conventions, and the result is something I've never quite seen before.

You don't directly control the titular Baby, for instance; instead, you lead her through a disturbing world solely using PS Vita's front touchscreen and rear touchpad (that's right: no buttons or analog sticks at all). As the game progresses, Baby learns from your interactions and gradually becomes a bit more independent.

The game's universe is the real star, starting with the lively sketch-like art direction of the environment and its characters. From the ominous landscapes - which look like Tim Burton fever dreams - to the grotesque character designs, Murasaki Baby is a study in how to make cute creepy.

Watch my playthrough of the game's first chapter to see why Murasaki Baby is worth keeping an eye out when it lands on PS Vita this September.

Xdev Studio: Murasaki Baby Launching on PS Vita This September

50°
19w ago - Xdev Studio Europe Producer Chris Jones announced that Murasaki Baby is launching on PS Vita this September with details below.

To quote: Hi all, today we'd like to share some more details with you on the world of Murasaki Baby. We're currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on the game.

We're excited to announce that she'll be arriving on your PS Vita in early September for $14.99 and we can't wait for you to meet her and wander around her weird world!

We're also really pleased to announce the collaboration with renowned music composer Akira Yamaoka who has created an exclusive music track for the game. Yamaoka-san is best known for his eerily ambient Silent Hill soundtracks, and he has partnered up with Ovosonico music producer & co-founder, Gianni Ricciardi to create a truly weird and wonderful soundtrack.

For those who've never seen Murasaki Baby before, this is a game where you lead Baby through a unique land of nightmares on the quest to find her mother. By simply holding her hand you have to solve the puzzles as you go and help her reach her goal.

Along the way you'll encounter different characters, which you'll need to help so that they can help you on your journey. You can see some of the new characters, such as Bunny Boy, a disco kid who's...
