222w ago - Sony PS2 news is scarce lately, but tomorrow Amazon kicks off an all PS2 Gold Box Event. To quote:
If you traded up, perhaps that backward compatibility feature on your good 'ol PS3 (if you were an early adopter) can get some good usage out of these PS2 deals... Here are the full details:
On Monday, February 23, 2009, PlayStation 2 items will be featured in the Amazon Gold Box. The identities of each deal will be revealed one at a time. Here's how it will work:
• At 12:01 AM PST the first deal will be the Gold Box Deal of the Day. Its special discounted price will be available all day only on Monday, February 23 (or until we run out.)
• Starting at 6:00 AM PST, the second deal will be featured as a Lightning Deal.
• Each of the remaining deals will also be Lightning Deals.
• Discounts on each deal will be available only while supplies last.
239w ago - Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein shared the following via PS Blog:
You've probably already heard the news: this coming Monday, October 27th, there will be an update made available on the PlayStation Network to unlock the entire Trophy system for Grand Theft Auto IV on PLAYSTATION 3.
Rockstar Games asked that I share a bit more info with you.
Make sure to download and install the update before playing in order to start attaining Trophies. There will be 51 total trophies, broken down by four different levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum - all contributing to your overall experience level on your PlayStation Network profile.
Among the 51 trophies to be released Monday, look for:
One Man Army - only those that are wily enough to survive a 6-star wanted level for a full 5 minutes will be rewarded with this one.
Dare Devil - an award for those who find and execute all of the Unique Stunt Jumps throughout Liberty City.
Chain Reaction - an Achievement for those who can pull off blowing up 10 vehicles in 10 seconds or less.
Liberty City Minute - for those that have completed the game story in less than 30 hours. As the Social Club's Story Club leaderboard can attest, this is not an easy feat.
243w ago - Per Nigel Kershaw (Game Director, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift) today via PS Blog:
Today the staff at Evo are doing a little dance and breathing a huge sigh of relief. For today is the day of our fist gold master candidate, which as I write this is winging its way to assorted testers around the world ready for them to give MotorStorm: Pacific Rift one last hammering. This isn't the end, chances are there still a few bugs to be fixed, but we've finished dessert, and are now just waiting for coffee and the bill. Phew.
But rather than browsing through vacation brochures, I thought this impasse would be best spent writing a few blog posts which answer some of the questions that have been floating around the internet about Pacific Rift. The first one of which I noticed is how many people I've seen decrying the fact the lovely little pause camera from the first game isn't present in the recent demo.
Well guess what? We've taken it out because we've introduced a photo mode to the main game, essentially the old pause camera on steroids. Hopefully it will be a good substitute and give your greasy little paws something to do while the game is paused, other than just going to the khazi.
255w ago - Nestled deep in the comments section of the official PAIN Blog, Producer Travis Williams has been busy responding to the community. There's plenty of back-and-forth banter, but there are also some hidden gems of info which we thought you might be interested in.
PAIN's expansion pack, the Amusement Park, will be available this Summer for "less than $6.99" and a video of it in action will be shown on the official PlayStation Blog at some point tomorrow. A European release will happen simultaneously.
With regards to trophies, this will be included in the expansion pack and won't end there. Travis says that "new trophies for PAIN will come out as long as we continue to add content."
Hopefully this is a common occurrence, with future game expansions for existing titles bringing more trophies. Could this mean more Super Stardust HD trophies are coming at some point in the future? Considering there's no Platinum trophy, we're guessing so.
