I know that Resistance 2 has just been released in UK/Europe today and this may seem premature, but this news comes from the same person who gave me the rumor on the MGS4 Expansion Pack, which became a hot topic of discussion.

This rumor suggests that SCEA and Insomniac Games will officially announce Resistance 3 in February 2009 along with the first collection of screenshots and the first details of the game, the rumor also suggests that you will play as Cappe... More »

2008 has been full of ups and downs for the PlayStation 3. Whether or not Sony delivered on all their promises is questionable.

However, if there is one thing that can't be taken from Sony's next-gen console is the tremendous growth its software library has undergone over the past year.

In 2007, critics of the PS3 lambasted the console's software catalog. The system was victim of numerous shoddy ports, and lacked any defining title it could call its own. Then, early in the new year, Sony made the eyebrow raising announcement that they intended to drive sales not by slashing the price again, but by delivering quality software.

And, to the disbelief of even the most devout Sony fanatics, things did begin to change. The PS3 became the lead platform for many multiplatform projects, ironically, not because it was the most powerful platform, but because it was the most infuriating to develop for. Starting with Burnout Paradise in January, the differen... More »

You know, Easter Eggs are always fun little secrets to seek out -- such as this one from Resistance 2, which candidly gives a shout out to Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4.

Reader Jay stumbled upon this "MGS4PWNS" sign in co-op mode. It looks like the ladies and gents at Insomniac have enjoyed MGS4 quite a bit. And why not? It's great.

To see the EE for yourself, just check out the Spec Op's ammo crate after "prototype ammo berserk" has been activated.

We haven't tried this ourselves yet this weekend, but we're sure we'll run into it sometime. So how about you? Have you found anything interesting in your gaming sessions this weekend?

Shortly after the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) on 12th June 2008, a rumor surfaced saying that a new extended ending would be released exactly six months after the games release.

No details were mentioned about what this extended ending would contain, but at the end of MGS4 Old Snake says that he has six months left to live.

To quote: So six months of Snake’s life from 12th June 2008 would bring it to 12th December 2008 which is exactly when this extended ending is rumored to be released, expect this to be released as an update patch that you will have to download via the PlayStation Network or it could even be a code that unlocks the extended ending as the video could already be on the MGS4 Blu-Ray disc.

But until this information is confirmed by Konami or Kojima Productions it will remain as a rumour and unconfirmed, even though this would make a good new feature to the game.

Morpheon Mods has crafted an incredible MGS4-themed PS3 system that's not only completely blinged out, it's signed by Hideo Kojima himself. The quantity and scope of the modications applied are mind-boggling.

"The entire PS3 and controller is a combination of Carbon Fiber and Midnight Black done in our own digital camouflage technique ... The final product is a uniform finish that reflects like a mirror.

It has been specially fitted with 15 white micro LEDs that back light not only the marquee but also the etching so the artwork is viewable in complete darkness."

Best of all? You can actually buy this thing off eBay. Not only will you be getting the system, you'll also be getting an incredible grab-bag of rare MGS merchandise, such as a custom embroidered Otacon patch -- of which only 12 have been made in the world.

Finally, 15% of the sale's pr... More »

The latest one was Tekken 6, but it didn't start there, and with John Schappert's recent comments about him wanting MGS4 for his system, the X360, it probably won't be the last one they will try for.

However, while there are pros to this situation in that more people will be able to play these games, is there a downside to all of this?

I certainly think so, and it lies with one simple notion: That by continuing to persuade these third party companies to make the franchises that made the Playstation 2 the clear winner multiplatform and giving MS exclusive perks, Microsoft is instead hurting their own credibility and admitting that without these franchises, they can't compete as well as they would if they didn't have them.

Now, before you flame me for being a PS3 fanboy (I'm not) and dismiss this as "flame bait", hear me out on this one.

As a company, you wouldn't want to admit defeat at any point in your time. Of course, the f... More »

Microsoft’s Xbox Live boss has told MCV that Xbox 360 definitely has the power to “handle” Metal Gear Solid 4 – and talked of his admiration for “Kojima-san’s masterpiece”.

John Schappert, the firm's corporate vice-president of Live, Software and Services, said that he would “love to see the game come to 360", and boasted of Xbox’s “horsepower”.

His comments came after Konami’s Yoshitaka Arai allegedly told a Japanese newspaper: “The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.”

Sony US boss Jack Tretton previously told MCV that MGS4 on Xbox 360 was an "impossibility".

To quote Schappert: “I’m certainly in the fan club that would love to see Kojima-san’s masterpiece come our way. It would be wonderful to play Metal Gear Solid on the Xbox. It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on anothe... More »

According to a Tokyo Game Show report from Japanese investment research firm Morningstar, Metal Gear Solid 4 may find its way to the Xbox 360 after all.

Morningstar published a general article covering multiplatform trends that features a quote from a Konami public relations representative that should fuel rumors for months to come.

The rep is quoted as saying, regarding MGS4, "We're actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360." While this isn't a confirmation of it coming, it does lend hope to those Xbox 360 owners who haven't plunked down money on a PS3.

However, this little quote doesn't clear the major hurdle Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has listed for the title coming to Xbox 360. He has been quoted in several interviews saying a port was likely impossible due to the game being optimized for the PS3 hardware, specifically Blu-ray discs.
