42w ago - Today Sony Producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana of the Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Project has officially revealed the Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 Trophy List!
To quote: Did you all experience Metal Gear Solid 4 back in 2008? Or maybe for some reason you missed it? The Trophy system was introduced to PS3 in the middle of 2008.
However, by that time, MGS4 had already finished development and was about to launch, so we were regrettably unable to implement Trophies at launch. But, we've always had it on our to-do list and users have given us continuous feedback requesting Trophies over the years.
For all those who have asked "where are the Trophies?" we are very sorry for the long wait. However, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series, we are very pleased to announce that trophies will finally be coming to MGS4 in the beginning of August!
Furthermore, retail versions of the game in stores will be updated to offer native Trophy support out of the box.
For loyal fans and new players alike, there's never been a better time to relive the experience of MGS4. The timeless PS3 classic is back - now with full Trophy support!!
97w ago - Today PlayStation Blog Manager Lorenzo Grajales shared an interview with Hideo Kojima, who discusses the upcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS3, Peace Walker HD, and PS Vita.
To quote: The Metal Gear mastermind recently revealed that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is heading to the PS3 this November.
The HD Collection includes revamped versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, complete with dual-analog-stick controls, 1080p graphics, smoother frame rates, a redesigned user interface, rumble support and much more.
We caught up with Kojima last week at an appearance in Mexico City and he was eager to speak with readers.
PlayStation.Blog: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was designed for PSP -- a portable device. What changes did Kojima Productions make to the upcoming PS3 version so it could be enjoyed on a high-definition home console?
Hideo Kojima, Director, Kojima Productions: The PSP obviously has fewer buttons than the PS3 controller, and it had some limitations when it comes to control. Using the DualShock 3, movement of many things improved... as did, of course, (the addition of) rumble support.
133w ago - Update: According to OriginalGamster.com, Konami confirmed that the new Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 box listing trophies is unfortunately a misprint.
Today PlayStationLifeStyle.net (linked above) reports that the new Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 box lists PlayStation 3 Trophies concluding that long-awaited PS3 trophy support for the Konami title is incoming!
To quote: "The new "Greatest Hits" packaging for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is currently hitting retailers everywhere, and the rear of the game case offers much hope for trophies finally being enabled for the PS3 exclusive.
While this isn't a confirmation, and we have seen some mistakes on game cases in the past, it certainly offers a glimmer of hope for a MGS4 trophy patch.
On the rear of the new MGS4 Greatest Hits edition case reveals -- as seen on all PS3 games -- a short list of PlayStation Network features available in the title. The list shows it as having online multiplayer, voice chat and... trophies!"
150w ago - Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was released this past June for PSP, however, despite Kojima Productions previously ruling out a PS3 port Hideo Kojima hinted at just that in a recent interview with French video game news site JeuxVideo.
Conducted at Japan Expo, Hideo Kojima briefly commented on the possibility of porting Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker from the PSP to the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
To quote: "I can not say I'll do a direct conversion of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on Playstation 3.
However, this game was a challenge in terms of its development on the PSP for me and I probably will preserve the base of it. And if I had to port it to another console, I would add even more depth to the story."
