To quote: In developing Quell Memento for PS Vita, we realized that the project was first started 20 years ago!
You see, the game prototype was originally created on an Amstrad CPC computer, way back in 1993! Having said that, it was very different back then - it was called "Last of the Smileys" and was a lot more 8-bit in style.
As we set about improving the game for a modern release, we knew that we wanted to have a much more unique visual style. After much discussion, we decided upon a gentle old-fashioned look, in part because we read that the human brain is more intelligent when it is relaxed.
Quell Memento is intended to feel familiar, and to evoke feelings of nostalgia. After all, a game called Memento is always going to be about memories!
For this reason, we wanted all the elements to be recognizable from the real world (water droplets, pearls and roses, for example). This would mean, we felt, that the player is able to establish the rules of play quickly, because they know that a pearl is valuable, or that a thorn will likely burst a droplet.

Just this morning a friend let me know the Memento Firmware for the Memor32 PS2 Memory Card being peddled was hacked by TikTok n' Botch... since last year (no, not FreeVast)- news to me, and a few others I asked as well!
Without a PS2/PSTwo I can't test the ELF's, but from the NFO file it states: I hope all you PS2 fans like this one. Should give some people a clue as to how the backend works. This is for academic research please treat as such. Lots of protection to stop extraction, Multiple levels of obsfucation (confusion), Uses Memor32 and Sony decrypt functions.
- Fixed stupid last-minute bug which caused failed boot on some games. All games that were reported as not-working are now booting correctly.
- Added DVD-DL suport for some games (like Champions of Norahh, Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix). This is still to be considered a beta feature and will be fixed completely in the next firmware release.
- Fixed DEV1/Dev3 on some PS2 versions (some models had issues, everything should be fixed now).
- Fixed Browser boot on some PS2 models, now disk will boot from browser on all PS2 Models.
- Added MEMENTO LOGO during dvd and DEV boot modes.
291w ago - Memento (Max Louarn et al) have updated to Memor 32 Firmware v1.1 today for the PS2. The new v1.1 build now adds Dev1 and Dev 3 mode which allows for the launching of up to four different applications from the memory card/USB hdd and memory stick.
