63w ago - Plastic Studios Game Director Michal Staniszewski has unveiled a video spotlighting Datura's Hidden Meaning, and has confirmed the free soundtrack hits PSN today.
To quote: It's been a while since we launched Datura exclusively on PSN, and lately I've been wondering if anyone had deciphered the true meaning of the game.
In many interviews with the press, I've said that Datura is open for interpretation and that it depicts visions of what happens after you die.
This was true, but I never spoke about the deeper layer of interpretation that connects the scenes. Every madness has its explanation, and Datura is no exception.
Reading through the reviews I found that many people got lost in the forest and the fog that surrounds it. Overwhelmed by the decisions and their consequences, it became difficult to recognize the small details that we scattered throughout the storyline. On the surface, Datura can seem random but there is a connection that ties it all together.
For every game there's always a small group of players that demands a challenge. Most often it's represented with an increased difficulty curve, thus it's attached directly to the gameplay.
But sometimes the challenge concerns the content, and that's why I decided to look at fan...
221w ago - During a recent interview with Capcom's Jun Takeuchi, 1UP (linked above) was told that several Japanese developers welcome Sony's upcoming PS3 Motion Controller as it opens the door for Wii-to-PS3 ports.
To quote from the interview: "1UP: What about Sony's motion control device?
JT: Well just being from Capcom, I can tell you that we have a lot of good ideas on how to make use of that technology and we're looking forward to putting them into practice.
However, speaking to other developers in Japan, I've heard a few of them say they were delighted by the Sony motion controller because they can just port over their Wii titles to the PS3."
244w ago - The Bluetooth Special Interest group have announced that on April 21st they'll officially unveil the details regarding their updated Bluetooth profile 3.0.
Within 3.0, the new update will allow for less disconnects and faster transfer speeds.
To quote: On April 21st, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group will officially unveil its Bluetooth 3.0 technology to the world. Unsurprisingly, Bluetooth 3.0 is promised to be much faster than the current 2.0/2.1 standard, according to the SIG:
"Transferring an entire music library, a complete DVD, a vacation's worth of photos, all within seconds at the touch of a button and wirelessly will now be possible."
Three-point-oh will also feature new Enhanced Power Control (or EPC), which will "reduces the incidence of disconnects caused by movement such as placing a phone in a pocket or purse."
On the technical side, it is a Generic Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP) that will enable Bluetooth profiles to take advantage of 802.11 speeds. The 802.11 Protocol Adaption Layer (PAL) will enable the Generic AMP feature to be used with an 802.11 radio.
What will this mean for Sony's PlayStation 3? If Sony updates the PS3 Bluetooth profile, perhaps your headsets will have...
266w ago - MTV has pieced together some of Barack Obama's thoughts on video games in order to understand what his presidency will mean for the gaming industry.
Previously he has called on the industry to give parents better information, and producers themselves to make descriptions available of exactly what content is included.
To quote: Obama's answer: "A: We need to give parents the tools and information they need to make choices about what programs their children are watching or what video games they are playing. As we move towards a digital environment, there is a golden opportunity for the industry to do this on their own–to use the latest in technology to give parents more information and more choice.
For example, this technology could make it possible for parents to create their own family tier just by programming their television to block certain channels, block certain genres of programming like dramas, or block television at certain times of the day.
The same can be said of video games, especially as we're moving into an era when they can be downloaded as easily as today's movies and television shows. I would call upon the video game industry to give parents better information about programs and video games by improving the voluntary rating system we currently...
