Sony on Facing the Challenge in Lords of the Fallen on PlayStation 4

50°
4w ago - Sony Online Content Producer Rhys Sutheran outlined some of the challenges PS4 fans will face in Lords of the Fallen on PlayStation 4 today.

To quote: "Do you like challenging games?"

So begins my first step into the demonic realm of the Fallen God - chief antagonist in Thomasz Gop and CI Games' forthcoming fantasy RPG, Lords of the Fallen on PS4.

In answer to that - still bearing the scars of endless Dark Souls re-starts - yes, I do like a challenge. Thomasz's jovial reply isn't exactly encouraging. "That's good! But you're still gonna die... a lot."

He's certainly not wrong. As executive producer in the small creative team at Poland's CI Games, Thomasz's friendly demeanor hides the dark heart of the man responsible for the most brutal, punishing, yet immensely satisfying fantasy RPG to make its way to PlayStation 4 so far.

I sat down with Thomasz at Gamescom 2014 to get hands-on with Lords of the Fallen's "second dimension," an alternate realm that the game's protagonist - and prolific sinner - Harkin will journey back and forth from throughout his blood-soaked quest.

"It's an important point in the game," Thomasz says as I face the first of the sword-wielding brutes blocking my path. "Learning more about both realms guides the player towards...

Lords of the Fallen from CI Games Challenging Gamers at E3 2014

50°
14w ago - CI Games Executive Producer Tomasz Gop announced today that Lords of the Fallen is challenging PlayStation 4 gamers at E3 2014.

To quote: Have you ever talked to a game developer about what E3 is? I mean, apart from the fact that it's the biggest industry event on the planet?

It lasts three days and the number of things that happen there usually take place over the course of many months. And then a switch flips once the Expo starts, you know?

The devs work hard before the event to prepare for making the best impressions possible, to show what's best in their games. Then when they get to LA, they put what they brought in front of the media and then it's the editors' turn to work around the clock to post up-to-date, relevant and interesting coverage. One would think this event is about developers and journalists, right? Well, no. It's about you, the gamer.

Last year's E3 was our first chance to show Lords of the Fallen to everyone. This time around it's our first chance to let people actually play it themselves, because this year we will be giving hands-on PS4 demos (also PC) in the CI Games meeting room. That's of course on top of all the live streams and demos that the dev team will be giving in the meantime.

I've seen a lot of people actually wonder if Lords...

CI Games: Lords of the Fallen on PS4: A Challenge Worth Facing

50°
20w ago - CI Games Executive Producer Tomasz Gop shared details today on CI Lords of the Fallen for PS4 who states it's a challenge worth facing!

To quote: I've seen my share of challenging games, and I loved a whole lot of them. And honestly speaking, I could never put up with so many people that quit playing them early.

But I've come around full circle to the point where I don't see their impatience as a shortcoming anymore. There's room for improvement in game design. And I believe that the team behind Lords of the Fallen on PS4 is after something that will narrow the gap between mainstream and core players. One bit at a time, that is.

First things first: we decided that if there's a main feature of Lords of the Fallen that will be complex and challenging, the rest should be more or less streamlined.

I'm not trying to say that we dumbed down anything. Take books written by Dan Brown or Harlan Coben, for example; they're not deprived of any intellectual value. They've been skillfully written for the mainstream audience, so... why not games?

Lords of the Fallen will try to tell a story without imposing it. You won't have to remember that the Fallen God's name is Adyr to face him. You won't have to memorize the names of crucial NPCs to follow their plots. But...

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PS3 Demo Out Today on PSN, Details

50°
31w ago - Konami Community Manager T.K. Shrodes shared details today on the new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PS3 demo that is out today on PSN below.

To quote: Want a taste of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2? Originally available only to owners of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD and the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection, the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 demo will be available for everyone today on PlayStation Store.

Download it today, and draw first blood against Dracula's many enemies in this demo, which highlights Gabriel at the height of his power.

Lash out with the Shadow Whip, a cruel remainder of Gabriel's once holy Combat Cross, or steal your enemies' very souls with the Void Sword. Employ my personal favorite, the Chaos Claws, to break down your foes' defenses and smash them into a very satisfying paste.

Dodge, jump and combo your way from Dracula's own throne room to an enormous assault against Dracula's castle, showing off differences in scale from the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the many additions to the Mercury Engine that make this title bigger, better, and just like Gabriel's turn... Darker.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is available on PS3 in North America starting February 25th. Stay tuned for a special deal for...

Lords of the Fallen on PS4 Leads Bandai Namco's 2014 Showcase

50°
32w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements announced that Lords of the Fallen on PS4 leads Bandai Namco's 2014 showcase.

To quote: Lords of the Fallen for PS4, What do fallen gods and iconic ninjas have in common? Bandai Namco, of course!

Earlier this week, the publisher held a showcase in San Francisco to exhibit its 2014 lineup. A diverse sampling of games made an appearance - some for the first time since their announcement.

Dark Souls II and Lords of the Fallen won special attention at the event, thanks to their striking art direction and uncompromising combat systems.

But there was much more than tales of dark fantasy to entertain and entice attendees. The latest in Naruto's long-running Ultimate Ninja Storm series was featured, along with a new side-scrolling platformer from developer Suda 51.

If you're craving a punishing challenge and twisted story, look no further than Sid's hands-on experience with Dark Souls II. And read on for the highlights from the rest of Bandai Namco's impressive showing.

Lords of the Fallen
PS4 - 2014

Thousands of years before the beginning of Lords of the Fallen, the people of the world fought and defeated their god, imprisoning him beneath the soil.

In his last moments,...
