Here's a new one... rumor has it Datel, longtime developer and manufacturer of videogame enhancement products, has beat conventional PSP hackers in unlocking the PSP 3000 console.
To quote: The breakthrough was made by Datel, thanks to their newest tool battery that will put the PSP 3K into service mode. Okay, what does this exactly do? According to their post, service mode allows you to downgrade your PSP for you to do whatever you may want to do with it, basically.
So. Here's the deal. In order for you to enable the service mode on your PSP 2K and 3K models, you'll need Datel's new crypto processor based battery called the Lite Blue Tool battery.
It comes with toggle options between a service mode and normal mode, as well as a built in LED power gauge feature! Datel's Lite Blue Tool comes to your nearest store on November 28th for a mere US$ 19.99 (UK) and US$ 29.99 (NA).
Looks like all is right with the world again, according to the latest numbers from Media Create.

At PDC today, Microsoft gave the first public demonstration of Windows 7. Until now, the company has been uncharacteristically secretive about its new OS; over the past few months, Microsoft has let on that the taskbar will undergo a number of changes, and that many bundled applications would be unbundled and shipped with Windows Live instead.
There have also been occasional screenshots of some of the new applets like Calculator and Paint. Now that the covers are finally off, the scale of the new OS becomes clear. The user interface has undergone the most radical overhaul and update since the introduction of Windows 95 thirteen years ago.
First, however, it's important to note what Windows 7 isn't. Windows 7 will not contain anything like the kind of far-reaching architectural modifications that Microsoft made with Windows Vista. Vista brought a new display layer and vastly improved security, but that came at a cost: a significant number of (badly-written) a... More »
It appears as if GottaDeal.com (linked above) has done it again, sleuthing out a "Doorbuster: Friday 5AM to Noon Only" Sears Black Friday flyer promoting two new Nintendo DS bundles.
According to the listing, Sears will be offering two new DS bundles as follows: One bundle includes an Ice Blue DS, a similarly colored case, and a copy of the original Brain Age. The other packs a Mario Red DS emblazoned with the Italian plumber's iconic "M" and a copy of New Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo had not responded to requests for comment concerning the bundles as of press time. It should be noted that after the metallic rose DS's special-edition run in November, Nintendo opted to add the hue to its burgeoning rainbow of standard-edition SKUs by the following May.
The Sears flyer lists the bundles as $149.99 each.
Eurogamer has uncovered that the PSP-3000, scheduled for release next week, comes with PSP Firmware 4.20 preloaded... for reference, the latest officially released Sony PSP Firmware is currently v4.05.
In addition, the updated system software revision includes a “USB Auto-Connect” option that automatically begins charging the PSP within the XMB when a USB cable is inserted.
To quote: Elsewhere, our side-by-side comparison of the current PSP/PSP-2000 firmware, 4.05, and the new 4.20 firmware on the PSP-3000 reveals a "USB Auto-Connect" option, which promises to automatically switch the handheld to USB mode when a cable is connected.
It will do this from anywhere on the XMB, but it won't interrupt gameplay. Nor does the PSP charge from USB during gameplay, although - as of the original Slim & Lite revision - it will do so while in USB mode.
