Video: The Legend of Korra PS4: PlatinumGames Joins the Avatar

50°
12w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements shared a video today announcing that PlatinumGames joins the Avatar in The Legend of Korra on PS4 below.

To quote: It's no easy task to adapt the critically acclaimed animated series The Legend of Korra into a third-person action game. The beloved show fuses martial arts, varying philosophies and world cultures, and an exquisite story that follows in the footsteps of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

What better studio to take up the challenge than PlatinumGames (Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance)? The team has spent years meticulously crafting combat systems that marry style and substance into a visual maelstrom of fast, addictive action.

And with Platinum's knowledge of martial arts choreography, Korra couldn't be in better hands. Revealed just yesterday, The Legend of Korra is coming to PS4 and PS3 this year. And we got to play it.

The Legend of Korra follows our rough-around-the-edges-but-ever-so-charming hero after the events of Book Two, but before the start of the upcoming Book Three.

For those unfamiliar with the Avatar universe, Korra is the latest incarnation of a long, long line of peacekeepers meant to preserve order between four...

Nicalis Details Legend of Raven for PlayStation Vita Handheld

50°
52w ago - Today Tyrone Rodriguez at Nicalis detailed Legend of Raven for the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

Below are the details, to quote: Fighting and PS Vita fans, rejoice! If you follow great PS Vita games, you probably know that Legend of Raven, the high-speed, 2D fighter, is coming later this year. And if you don't know about Legend of Raven, where have you been?

Legend of Raven features an awesome, hard-rocking guitar soundtrack, beautifully drawn characters and backgrounds, and gameplay to rival some of the best 2D fighters available today.

Headed to PSN, Legend of Raven will give you guys and girls the opportunity to go head-to-head locally (via Ad Hoc) with your friends.

A super-unique color commentary system emulates that old arcade experience. I'm sure some of you remember going to arcades or watching tournaments, seeing AND hearing the action.

It's just like that, except without the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. Literally, the in-game commentary will pop-up from time to time when you're clobbering an opponent with a vicious combo or finishing them off with a super move.

For those among us who want to learn a bit more about how the controls work, Legend of Raven features a four-button attack system and two varieties of punches and...

The Legend of Dragoon: PS1 RPG Classic Reborn May 1st on PSN

300°
127w ago - SCE Worldwide Studios President Shu Yoshida has announced today that the PS1 RPG classic The Legend of Dragoon is coming to PSN on May 1, 2012.

To quote: The Legend of Dragoon was one of the last projects I worked on as a producer in Japan Studio and by far the biggest team I managed hands-on.

We started the project in 1996 with only a handful of people, hired one by one as we were building up teams for Ape Escape, The Legend of Dragoon, and Ico simultaneously. During the peak of the game's development, we had well over 100 people working internally in the studio on The Legend of Dragoon - for a PSone game!

We had roughly 10 artists dedicated just to drawing concept art for this gigantic RPG. As the game contained lots of pre-rendered maps and full-motion videos, we were forced to spread the content over four CDs, which was the maximum number of discs that the fattest PSone game case could hold.

It took nearly three years to build the team and develop the game, which was released in December 1999 in Japan and June 2000 in the US. As I moved from Japan to the US in March 2000, I was able to personally handle the game's release in both Japan and the US.

Following the game's launch in Japan, we learned from players that certain parts of the game were too difficult....

152w ago - Laughing Jackal Community Manager Ross Brierley has announced today alongside a video trailer that Legend Of Heroes: Trails In The Sky will be hitting PSP on November 4, 2011.

To quote: Today I'm going to talk to you a little about [Register or Login to view links] which will be released on PSP in Europe on the 4th November 2011 as a Collector's Edition for £39.99.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is the first game in a trilogy of Legend of Heroes games. The story follows the adventures of Estelle Bright, the daughter of Cassius Bright, and his adopted son Joshua, both of whom are junior members of the Bracers Guild, a mercenary group sworn to protect the people of the world.

When their father Cassius, a war hero, leaves on a mission, Estelle and Joshua must take over his work in their hometown. The game's fantastic dialogue makes this a charming prologue and this charm never disappears as the scope of the story gradually expands from simple beginnings into a tense climax, as the young Bracers must uncover a conspiracy to overthrow the government of Liberl.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is set in a fantasy world where the combustion engine...

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Hits PSP March 29, 2011

200°
183w ago - Today XSEED Localization Specialist Jessica Chavez has announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky hits PSP on March 29, 2011.

To quote: If an all-consuming desire for a meaty RPG replete with a shiny metal Bracer badge, soundtrack and poster* should sacrifice your wallet to the gaming gods, your PSP is ours for the next 50+ hours of your life. You will be held hostage to its crushing narrative, and YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Salutations, readers. My name is Jessica Chavez, and I have worked on such delights as Half-Minute Hero and [Register or Login to view links], and inserted something salacious about Pikkards into Ys I&II. I also toiled for months on the enormity that is The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, which hits the PSP on March 29, and I shall tell you about it today.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (also known affectionately as "TitS" thanks to the tender caress of the internet) is an RPG that was first released in 2004 for the PC. It gained fame and notoriety on the computer circuit by virtue of being both massive and the first 3D iteration of its kind within the Legend of Heroes series.

Fast-forward to 2011 and you now have a PSP version crammed with all the original goodness, polished to a blinding sheen...
