Update: The LBP 1.05 patch adds star ratings to levels - you can now see the current star rating of a level (providing it has enough feedback).

The LittleBigPlanet v1.05 patch for PlayStation 3 is now available. It went live last night and is just 15MB in size. There isn't any word on what is new, but we're sure it brings with it some fixes and minor improvements.

To quote: The Planetoid observatory has just seen that the Little Big Planet 1.05 patch is now live. It went live at around 11pm GMT / UTC and is a teeny tiny 15MB in size.

Like previous patches, there has been no official word on it so right now there is no news on just exactly what this patch contains. We’d put our money on it being some minor stability fixes, much like patches 1.01, 1.02, 1.03 and 1.04 did and they were all around the same size.

Media Molecule did, only a few hours ago, announce their commitment to improving key areas of the game: Searching, Mo... More »

SCEA Marketing Manager Mark Valledor has initiated a weekly PS Blog update on the hot topics and answers to the questions LittleBigPlanet consumers have as follows:

First off, wanted to introduce “Sam_Protagonist” to everyone. He’s our global community manager for LittleBigPlanet and our eyes and ears for all things community. You can find him interacting on the EU and US forums providing updates to the community. Keep a look out for his forum posts and occasional LBP News Site posts for the latest updates.

So for our first installment of ‘SACK IT TO ME’ - we’ve decided to summarize some of the major topics the community wants answered…

Moderation
The level moderation process is something we’re continually improving. The small percentage of levels moderated have been done so after the community has reported them using the Good Grief tool. We never moderat... More »

Courtesy of RelentlessRolento via YouTube, here is a video that even the Capcom Blog has praised today.

To quote: I stumbled onto this awesome creation right here in our own creative forums!

RelentlessRolento is the master artist and level designer. He's designed it in a way that allows player to control Ryu and Ken by jumping on the buttons. They do all sorts of awesome moves!

You can find and try out this level by putting in his PSN username, Rolento. Check it out! Seth and I will be duking it out on this level later today, and this may be the only Street Fighter I can actually have a hope of beating him in... Nice work Rolento!

If you subscribe to EGM, and you can look outside and see the mailman approaching your house, there’s probably no need to read this story.

However, if you’re one of the unlucky folks who hasn’t got their hands on the new Watchmen issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, this story may interest you.

A few days ago, we got the first scoop from 1up about the latest batch of rumors from EGM’s mysterious Quartermann. Well those rumors are repeated in the magazine, but there is also a couple new, juicy ones that you can sink your teeth into; the biggest one is, obviously, that the Q-Mann heard from a source that on top of the release of new DLC, the Little Big Planet universe will be further expanded with a new PSP version. In the magazine, he says:

"The LBP universe will also continue to evolve next year with the release of the PSP version: Q-Mann hears it’s fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience."

Just under two days ago we reported that some LittleBigPlanet Custom Levels were being moderated (deleted) due to EULA violations.

Today, Media Molecule Dev Sam_Protagonist has posted on the LittleBigPlanet Workshop the following clarification:

Oasis is the name both of a band and of a soft drink (at least in Europe), however any level using the title "Oasis" would be absolutely fine right now unless it included music by Oasis the band, or the likeness of the drinks bottle.

There is a lot of exaggeration at play here with exactly what's going on with moderation. Firstly, no level is moderated unless it has been reported using the Good Grief tool, at which point it will only be blocked from online play if it is in violation of the EULA.

To date there have been fewer than 200 levels which have been blocked - considerably les... More »

Recently user Rocktave posted on LittleBigWorkshop: "My level was moderated (read; deleted) and now I can't re-publish. There was absolutely nothing offensive whatsoever in the level at all and I was given no explanation as to why they moderated it or why they won't even let me republish, even after making changes."

Although not surprising to say the least, Media Molecule Dev Sam_Protagonist replied as follows: "We're reviewing the moderating system currently to provide better feedback on why levels are moderated.

Primarily, any level that is reported using the grief tool will be checked over by a moderator, at which point they'll examine it in line with the EULA. If a level is found to be in violation of the EULA it will be moderated and you'll receive a message to that effect.

We're moving towards a system where additional information is given, however for the time being if you don't want your level moderating avoid anything unsui... More »

Today Sony's semi-official blog ThreeSpeech has made available a LittleBigPlanet review by a 'regular' there who goes by Apnomis.

In tune with many other recent LBP reviews, it appears Media Molecule's hit is still winning fans over in a big way.

To quote: Apnomis gave us his thoughts on LBP in a thread earlier today as follows:

“I was scared that LBP wouldn’t live up to the hype, I needn’t have worried - it’s absolutely brilliant!!!

It’s one of the best designed and most enjoyable FUN experience I’ve had on a console in years! There’s just a charm about it that you can’t help to be drawn too!

The story mode can be fun for the kids, but at the same time is incredibly challenging for a serious gamer that wants to unlock everything (the Gold trophy for completing all levels without dying should be tough), and the side unlockable levels are a great edition to keep things fresh.
