Sony's worst-kept secret this year appears to be the PS3 Slim, as retailer KMart is now listing the PlayStation 3 Slim for $299 with a launch date of August 24, 2009.
It's also currently displayed on KMart's main page HERE with the slogan "The rumors are reality." and includes a 120GB HDD, with the description as follows:
A single source at a Kmart has sent JoyStiq images that the PS2 will be promoted for $99.99 starting April 5, 2009.
To quote: This source has given us reliable retail information in the past and does not believe this is a sale, but the new price for the nearly decade-old, DVD-enabled console. The last-gen juggernaut currently retails for $129.99.
Update: Everyone has their own "optimal" configuration based on what they think is important, superfluous, or just plain irrelevant, so bear that in mind -- I'd never dogmatize about which configuration is "best," because that's something only each one of you can determine.
