209w ago - Recently Mattigus, a user on the Halflife2.Net forums has converted a library book (which evidently was never checked out) he bought used off Amazon into a functional PS2 console.
To quote: He's "almost positive" someone else has thought of it, but whatever, he's the only one providing pictures. Below you can see his Limited Edition Jack Thompson Out of Harm's Way PS2 plugged in, and running.
The cell phone is on the book because the cover won't close under its own weight.
And, who wants Jack staring lazerbeams through you for indulging in the violence of Marvel vs. Capcom 2?
233w ago - When he's not leading a shareholder revolt, Jack Thompson is apparently a spokesman for God.
In a letter to Take Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick, the former attorney said that Take-Two's recent stock tumble is an act of God.
Thompson wrote: "As you will recall, when we met in New York for a couple of hours on May 15, 2007, I mentioned to you that unless Take-Two cleaned up its corporate act (stopped marketing and selling its Mature-rated games to minors), there would be a wicked price to pay.
Since then Take-Two's stock has gone from $26 to $7+ per share. I think God has put the world together in such a way that your company's wrongdoing has made this fiscal reckoning unavoidable. Scripture says so.
I have been your company's and its shareholders' best friend in all this since I appeared on 60 Minutes in the spring of 2005, but you chose to characterize me as your company's enemy, pledging to destroy me, and now the piper is being paid. God is not amused.
The harm you and your agents have done to me is predictable, as Jesus told his disciples: "The world hates you because it first hated me." I'll be fine, as God promises that "All things work to the good for those who love the Lord and are called according...
247w ago - Is it finally game over for Florida lawyer and violent video game opponent Jack Thompson?
Judgment has been entered in the case that started last year and came to a head when Judge Dava Tunis recommended permanent disbarment for the bombastic, showboating law man. The court has approved the report and has ordered that Jack Thompson is officially disbarred as of 30 days from today.
To quote: The Court approves the corrected referee's report and John Bruce Thompson is permanently disbarred, effective thirty days from the date of this order so that respondent can close out his practice and protect the interests of existing clients.
If respondent notifies the Court in writing that he is no longer practicing and does not need the thirty days to protect existing clients, this Court will enter an order making the permanent disbarment effective immediately. Respondent shall accept no new business from the date this order is filed.
Note that Thompson still has a chance for a retrial, only due to court sanctions the motion must me submitted by a member of the Florida Bar in good standing, and I don't know that anyone wants to touch this one.
It's also worth noting that along with disbarment, Thompson has been ordered to reimburse the Florida Bar fees amounting...
