9w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman is here with some answers to Fuse PlayStation 3 questions courtesy of Insomniac Games.
To quote: During a PAX East panel over the weekend, Insomniac Games announced a May 28th North American release date for its upcoming PS3 co-op shooter Fuse.
The game blends some familiar elements of Resistance 2's large-scale co-op mode with exotic weapons powered by an all-powerful alien substance dubbed, you guessed it, "Fuse."
Given the news, we reached out to Insomniac Games President Ted Price with a list of topics we plucked from a recent Twitter call for questions. Enjoy, and be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments.
PSB: Games this generation have take a longer time to develop, how long have you guys been working on the Fuse concept (via jaydawg6958)?
Ted Price, President, Insomniac Games: We started working on Fuse a few years ago. It's evolved significantly since then, as all of our games have. Thematically the best way to describe Fuse is to take the dry humor and teamwork of Mission: Impossible (the new films, not the old TV show) and combine it with the crazy weapons of District 9.
27w ago - Insomniac Games Community Lead James Stevenson has announced today that the Resistance Collection lands on PS3 December 5th.
To quote: This holiday season just got better. Resistance Collection is hitting stores starting December 5th, and it makes a great gift for any shooter fan who hasn't had a chance to experience one of the best FPS trilogies on PS3.
Resistance started as I-8, a return to Insomniac's roots making first-person shooters (Disruptor was our first-ever game on PSOne).
It evolved from a space opera featuring lizard-like aliens into an alternate history World War I shooter, before eventually evolving into the 1950s-era game that launched alongside PS3. Over the three titles, we had an incredible experience developing the Resistance franchise for PlayStation fans.
From Resistance: Fall of Man's 40-player multiplayer, to Resistance 2's 8-player online co-op, to Resistance 3's heroic survival of Joseph Capelli in a brutal world, everyone at Insomniac is incredibly proud of what we accomplished with the Resistance trilogy.
For all of you who haven't had the chance to check them out yet, the trilogy gives you the opportunity to experience them...
36w ago - Insomniac Games Creative Director Brian Allgeier has announced today that they are lighting the Fuse, a title that was formerly known as Overstrike.
Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone! After a long journey navigating the sometimes-challenging waters of new IP development, we're proud to reveal Fuse.
Fuse, formerly known as Overstrike, is a third person, four-player cooperative game that centers around a volatile energy source that has fallen into the wrong hands.
The substance, called Fuse, has been acquired by a terrorist organization known as Raven and Overstrike 9 has been hired to track down and stop it from setting off a deadly arms race.
You can play with up to three of your friends, and each member of Overstrike 9 has its own signature Fuse-powered weapon. Play as Dalton Brooks, an ex-mercenary who has a Mag-shield that acts as portable cover and unleashes a devastating blast that liquefies opponents.
Take on the role of Naya Deveraux, who can cloak to flank enemies and fire out mini-black holes that implode its victims. As Jacob Kimble, you can keep enemies at a distance with the Arc Shot and shoot out charged bolts that chain react and fry enemies.
Then there's Izzy Sinclair, who can either launch out med beacons to heal teammates...
38w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has recently interviewed Shaun McCabe of Insomniac Games who spills the beans on Ratchet & Clank: QForce for PS3 below!
To quote: While many popular franchises are happy to stick rigidly to their tried-and-tested formula whenever it's time for a new entry, the Ratchet & Clank series has never shied away from mixing things up.
This year's Ratchet & Clank: QForce - the tenth outing for developer Insomniac Games' dynamic duo - is no different.
Due out on both PS Vita and PlayStation 3 before the end of the year, it adds an intriguing - and, believe me, thoroughly entertaining - new tower defence element to keep players on their toes.
We bumped into Insomniac's Shaun McCabe at Gamescom last month and immediately thrust a camera in his face to find out more.
See what he has to say below, and then remind yourselves of the game's latest trailer.
