Ackk Studios: Indie RPG Y2K is Coming to PS4 and PS Vita

50°
6w ago - ACKK STUDIOS LLC Co-director Andrew Allanson announced today that Indie RPG Y2K is coming to PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

Below are the details, to quote: Hey, readers! I'm Andrew Allanson, from AckkStudios. I'm here to tell you about a 3D, turn-based, Japanese-style RPG that we are developing for PS4 and PS Vita. The game is called Y2K.

Y2K is being developed by Brian & Andrew Allanson with Jose Alfaro, Ian Bailey, and Brigid Allanson. We unite under the name of AckkStudios LLC! Ackk is partnering with Ysbryd Games to ensure polish and funding for the game.

So, what's all this Y2K stuff about?

For those of you too young to remember, Y2K refers to the year 2000 problem. Basically, it was a coding bug that was projected to create havoc in computers and computer networks around the world at the beginning of the year 2000... a lot of people thought the world was going to end because of this. It was pretty crazy.

With that in mind, here are more specifics about the premise: When an erratically-behaving elevator claims the life of a young woman, unemployed recent college graduate Alex Eggleston takes to a primitive 1990s message-board to find answers about the death of this stranger. His quest for answers leads to more questions as his research points him to...

Indie Horror Game Home Hits PS4 October 28th, PS Vita Soon After

350°
9w ago - Benjamin Rivers Inc Director Benjamin Rivers confirmed today that Indie horror game Home hits PS4 on October 28th, 2014 with a PS Vita version to follow soon after.

To quote: It was announced that the horror game Home was coming to PlayStation this year, and I am very excited to say that the PS4 version of the game will be launching October 28th - just in time for Halloween!

This horror adventure is a player-driven story that responds to your choices; taking cues from adventure games as well as side-scrollers, what happens in Home is entirely up to the player.

As you make choices and even explore, the game changes in subtle ways to reflect your adventure. I like to think of it as the kind of game you'll immediately want to talk about with other players as soon as you finish it, just to compare notes.

The Vita version will follow very soon after - I honestly just couldn't wait to get the PS4 version into players' sweaty hands. But Vita owners, fear not: Home supports cross buy, so you'll get both versions of the game for the same price anyway, even if you get the PS4 version!

The only one who'll be more scared is my accountant; for the first two weeks I'm having a launch sale, so both versions of Home together will be available for the so-spooky-it-can't-be-real...

Video: Sony Catches Up with the Indie 9 Developers from E3 2013

50°
29w ago - Sony Vice President, Developer and Publisher Relations guru Adam Boyes caught up with the Indie 9 developers from E3 2013 today to discuss this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo below.

To quote: With E3 2014 mere days away, I wanted to take a quick trip down memory lane to E3 2013. Back then, I had the incredible pleasure of introducing nine indie developers making PS4 games on-stage during our press conference - probably my proudest moment of the show.

We thought it would be fun to check-in with these nine developers one year later, seeing what it has been like for them to develop on PS4 and work with PlayStation in general.

Hopefully you've been following the development of these nine indie games, as well as the other great indie titles PS4 has to offer. Of the "indie nine," we've seen the launch of Don't Starve, Outlast (and its Whistleblower DLC), Mercenary Kings, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, and most recently Transistor.

Such different game experiences from each other, but each so entertaining in their own right - with Don't Starve I was thoroughly studying the migration and mating patterns of the Beefalo, and don't even get me started about Outlast... Even while playing in broad daylight with...

Sony Announces Indie Horror Game Home Coming to PS4, PS Vita

50°
40w ago - Benjamin Rivers Inc Director Benjamin Rivers announced via Sony's Blog today that Indie horror game Home is coming to PS4 and PS Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: Home was a welcome surprise to horror game lovers when it launched on PC in 2012, and it delighted a whole new audience on mobile in 2013.

Its simple controls and heavy reliance on rich sound and atmosphere, though, make it a great choice for a console system - so I'm happy to announce that Home is making the jump to PS4 and PS Vita this year!

Part of Home's charm is that it's entirely dependent on the player; it isn't a march toward Ending A or Ending B - it's the journey itself that is affected, as all your little choices subtly change how your character perceives the world around him. It's a game that people love playing and then discussing afterward to compare notes and theories.

More importantly, it's a game that's meant to be played alone, in the darkest room (or alley, or barn, or deep, dank forest) you can find. On PS4, this means you can turn off the lights, crank that sound system and let the dread wash over you.

If you're extra brave, you can play the game on your Vita - somewhere scary, where no one will find you, and with a fat pair of headphones, of course.

Home received...
