Freedom Wars Out Tuesday, Characters & Panopticons Detailed

100°
16h ago - Sony Associate Project Manager Nick Accordino detailed both the characters panopticons in Freedom Wars today, which comes out for PS Vita this Tuesday.

To quote: Hello again Freedom Wars fans! With less than a week to go until Freedom Wars finally hits North America, I wanted to deliver a few more details regarding our awesome cast of characters and Western Panopticons to our English-speaking "Sinners" out there.

As you've seen through our various trailers, even throughout the multitude of cooperative and competitive modes, the story of Freedom Wars takes center stage. While contributing to society and steadily decreasing that million-year sentence, you'll encounter a myriad of interesting, (and might I add stylish) characters, starting with:

Aries
A mysterious girl who appears in front of our main character from time to time. Her prophetic-sounding words seem to be leading you down a certain path, but her true motives remain a mystery...

Natalia "9" Woo
The tough-as-nails Commander of The Office of Peace and Stability, 35th division. Natalia is tasked with protecting the peace in her Panopticon and keeping the Sinners in line. She might seem cold at first glance, but Natalia's rigid demeanor masks her deep-seated wish to protect her teammates.

Digital Dreams: Metrico is Out Today on PS Vita, Free for PS Plus

50°
11w ago - Digital Dreams Level Designer Roy van de Mortel announced that Metrico is out today on PS Vita and is free for PS Plus members!

To quote: Today is the day. Metrico is available now on PS Vita. We have one more post on Metrico to celebrate this and share some insights about Trophies and PS Plus, but we'd like to start out with the premiere of the Metrico Release trailer!

Metrico Trophies

Since experimenting is the very core of Metrico, we wanted to incorporate this in every aspect of the game as part of our holistic design process. This means we took quite some time to come up with a cool - possibly rather difficult - set of Trophies for the game.

We decided to make all of them hidden and see how long it takes for you to figure them out and spread them across the internet. As such, it wouldn't make much sense to spoil them here, but I can talk about them a little bit:

There are a total of 11 Trophies in the game. Each of Metrico's six worlds have unique Trophies, which can be earned by completing each world while meeting specific requirements. There are a couple more obvious Trophies scattered throughout the game that will also prove to be difficult to find and solve... Good luck...

Video: Sony Goes Hands-on with Metrico on PlayStation Vita

11w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today with Metrico on PlayStation Vita complete with a PS Vita video trailer below.

To quote: Metrico, [Register or Login to view links]' input-morphing, mind-bending puzzle platformer, hits PS Vita tomorrow (for free if you're a PlayStation Plus member).

In it, players will need to think in unexpected ways to overcome obstacles like bar graphs, pie charts, and... wait, what?

Yeah, Metrico's gameplay centers around the world of infographics. Charts manifest and shift as you run and jump - one puzzle even requires the player to throw themselves into a bottomless pit to summon a bar graph, creating a bridge to the next area.

The music in Metrico is worth pointing out. It comes courtesy of Dutch composer [Register or Login to view links], and it delivers some seriously slick atmosphere to this weird, genre-bending game.

Metrico isn't really the easiest thing to describe with words, though. Thus, I humbly present a hands-on video recently recorded in our studio here at PlayStation HQ. Cast your gaze back to the top of this very page and watch me infograph!

Video: Metrico on PS Vita Dated, New PlayStation Vita Trailer Out

50°
14w ago - Digital Dreams Level Designer Roy van de Mortel confirmed today alongside a PlayStation Vita video trailer that Metrico on PS Vita arrives on August 5, 2014.

To quote: Hi fellow PlayStation enthusiasts! We're finally ramping up to the release of our first big title, the infographics action game [Register or Login to view links]. We got loads of questions during development, which we are really excited to finally answer in this blog post!

One of the most frequently asked question is; when is Metrico coming out? We're proud to announce that Metrico will be available on PlayStation Network August 5th in the US, exclusively on PS Vita!

Another frequent question was: "Who did the awesome music?" You're in the right place to find out as well! But the most frequent question was the request for Metrico gameplay footage. We want to start this post by giving you exactly that:

Showing Metrico gameplay

The main reason we took such a long time to show gameplay footage is because we always felt the main mechanics of Metrico are quite tricky to explain through video. We never got around to solving this, even though this is probably a recurring issue for novel game concepts.

Freedom Wars: The World of Panopticon on PS Vita Detailed

50°
23w ago - Sony Associate Producer Dais Kawaguchi shared details today on Freedom Wars: The World of Panopticon coming to PS Vita below.

To quote: It's been a few weeks since we made the announcement for the North American release of Freedom Wars, and we're overwhelmed with all the positive comments we've been seeing! Today, we'd like to dive deeper into the world of Freedom Wars on PS Vita.

In PT Era 102014, the earth has been devastated by atmospheric pollution and the world is running out of resources. Human beings can only survive inside purpose-built facilities known as Panopticons.

City-states across the world fight each other to take control of what is left, using these Panopticons to take over other competing regions. You take on the role of prisoner in this Panopticon facility, subject to a million-year sentence.

When the story begins, the main character finds himself in a cell with no recollection of where - or who - he is. An Android, also referred to as an "Accessory" throughout the game, is sent to brief him on his fate. The Accessory tells the protagonist that he must fight massive Abductors to reduce his million-year sentence.

Abductors...
