9w ago - Sony International Software Development Senior Producer Tsubasa Inaba has announced today that Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational goes asynchronous today complete with new courses and characters!
Below are the details, to quote: If you haven't played Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational in a while, now is the time! As some of you may already know, we recently released a feature update (patch 1.05). This long awaited update adds the following features:
Turn Based Challenge
Too busy to join a tournament online at a given time/date? Not to worry! By introducing this "Turn Based Challenge" mode, you can now challenge your friends in an asynchronous competition and play head to head, hole by hole.
Players can now also set up 20 different parallel games at any given time. To avoid cheating, there are no re-dos, similar to Daily Tourneys. Short messages (like SMS) are also now enabled, as well as competitive score history between friends.
Additional gameplay updates include:
• Four-player stroke mode enabled in the multiplayer rooms.
• A slot mode added to the online/adhoc, enabling a slot machine style handicap system applied per hole to keep the game interesting in case there is an imbalance between player skills.

To quote: Calling all golf fans! Update 1.04 for Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational on PlayStation Vita goes live this evening! Here's what to expect the next time you hit the fairways:
Invite friends to play in private tournaments
Whereas before you could only play in Real Mode tournaments that were open to all, now you can create private tournaments for you and up to seven friends, as well as private rooms in the online lobby space.
Out on the course, you'll be able to see your opponent's ball after each shot, and between holes you can also use text chat to communicate with your friends, on the scorecard screen.
Stroke Mode (Head-to-Head)
Previously Ad-Hoc only. A head-to-head competition for two players, where the golfer with the best results at the end of a round wins. You'll be able to chat with and heckle your opponent between holes.
Match Mode (Head-to-Head)
Previously Ad-Hoc only. This is also a head-to-head competition for two players, but this time it's the first competitor to get to 3UP status during a...

101w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a PS Vita preview and details today on Hot Shots Golf (working title).
To quote: When I first laid eyes on the PS Vita in January, I was floored by UNCHARTED (now officially dubbed UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss), eager to try Super Stardust Delta with dual analog sticks, and mesmerized by the use of AR in Reality Fighters.
But I knew that the game I'd be coming back to on flight after flight, year after year, would be Hot Shots Golf.
I've easily sunk hundreds of hours into the Hot Shots Golf series dating back to the PS2 days, with the majority of that time on the PSP's Open Tee line. Based on what I've played of Hot Shots Golf, the hours will keep piling up on PS Vita.
The first thing I noticed was how the game's cheerfully colorful visuals benefit from the PS Vita's stunning OLED display. Don't compare it to the PSP's Open Tee series; Hot Shots Golf's visuals on the PS Vita are even more polished than those of PS3's Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. Gorgeous character lighting, dazzling water effects, fluttering birds, swirling leaves -- this is as pretty a day on the links are you're likely to see.
151w ago - Producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda has announced alongside a video trailer that Hot Shots Tennis: Get A Grip arrives for PSP and PSPgo today.
To quote: Get out your brightest highlighter and draw a big circle around today's date, Tuesday, June 29, 2010, aka The Best Day in PSP Tennis History.
This is the day that Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip (as a UMD or PSN download) makes its North American debut, and for the wallet-friendly price of $19.99!
That's right, the wait is over... all your portable tennis needs are finally answered! Get ready to spend countless summer nights unlocking characters, costumes, courts and secret levels. Oh, the joy.
But I don't have to sell you on this... you've already gotten a taste of the supremely awesome gameplay with the demo (released last week!) and your thumbs are sore from maxing out both your points and loyalty level. You're gotten a glimpse into to endless (hyperbole!) rows of customization options. Your smash hits are unstoppable and you are ready to name your first child Emily (or Hugo, it's up to you).
