168w ago - Team RamRod's Brandon Akiaten has confirmed that High Velocity Bowling for PS3 ships today on Blu-ray with PlayStation Move support.
To quote: Over the last few years, lots of High Velocity Bowling add-on DLC has been released and we've collected all the content in one convenient Blu-ray Disc package, including over 20 unique characters and themed alleys, trick shot packs, and other fun content.
In addition, the game also supports stereoscopic 3D and PlayStation Move functionality included on the disc to really simulate a genuine bowling swing. The game's a blast to play and lets up to four friends play offline, or go head-to-head online to see who the better bowler is.
If you already own the original High Velocity Bowling game on PSN, you can get the PlayStation Move add-on functionality for free if you are a PlayStation Plus member. If you aren't a member of PlayStation Plus, don't worry: the PlayStation Move add-on is planned to be released in the near future.
249w ago - Today Brandon Akiaten of Team RamRod revealed some new strikers heading to High Velocity Bowling for PS3 as follows:
We're back and with a couple more characters for you to 'roll' with. I'm happy to present you all with Bruce 'Flyboy' Fitzpatrick and Carmen 'Sordida' Sanchez.
Both of these guys are available beginning TODAY and for just $0.99 each! Here's a little info on our new additions:
Bruce 'Flyboy' Fitzpatrick
Bruce is a flamboyant flight attendant from New York, New York who happens to be fantastic in the lane. He's definitely earned the nickname 'Flyboy' and has proven to have fabulous ball control. Though, his downfall is that he cares more about his precious manicure than pin action ... so it's nothing but light balls for him.
Carmen 'Sordida' Sanchez
Carmen is from San Ysidro, California, and with a chip on her shoulder, she has much to prove. She'll do anything to win even if it requires dirty tactics. Carmen refuses to wear bowling shoes and as a result, her form leaves a lot to be desired.
We hope you enjoy these two new additions to the High Velocity Bowling family! BUT, if that wasn't enough for you, keep checking back with us in a few weeks as we have more to 'spare'...
259w ago - Team RamRod's Mike Skinner shared the following today via PS Blog:
Hello everyone! We hope you have been enjoying High Velocity Bowling (HVB) online over the past few months. For those of you who have never played before, HVB uses your SIXAXIS controller to simulate a genuine bowling swing.
Challenge one of 8 unique bowlers in our single- player mode, or play multiplayer at home with up to 3 friends or family members. If you're ready for more, go online and take on some of the bowlers, or just hang out for a casual game with someone new.
You can listen to your own music while you bowl, and also earn PlayStation Network Trophies along the way. HVB is a great game to get everyone together this holiday season, and it's available right now on the PlayStation Network Store for only $9.99.
Last month we added some flair to the world of HVB with the release of the two characters – Foxy Powers and Chastity Falls - as well as the All Hallow's Eve Bowling Ball Pack. Last week, we released the new Gearhead Ball Pack, which is currently available on the Playstation Store for just $.99.
Inspired by the American Hot Rod culture, players can now get ready to tear up the lanes in style with six new bowling ball designs, including two new showcase balls!
325w ago - The PlayStation Network seems to be the outlet for some of Sony's most innovative content for the PS3, featuring games with unique concepts or which make full use of Sixaxis motion sensing technology (and sometimes both). High Velocity Bowling isn't exactly a groundbreaking concept, but it does utilise the Sixaxis controller to choose both the direction of the ball and its power. We tried out the latest build of the game at Sony's pre-TGS press event in Tokyo overnight, and we're happy to report that High Velocity Bowling seems to control much better now than in our last hands-on preview with the game.
High Velocity Bowling is an arcade bowler which features the usual stock standard play modes--there's straight-up bowling, head-to-head competitions (which helps unlocks new playable characters), tournaments, and trick shot challenges. Each character has different strengths in ball spin, speed, and accuracy, and they come with names like Average Joe, Average Jill, Spider, Hero, and more.
High Velocity Bowling draws some obvious parallels with Wii Sports' bowling game thanks to its use of the Sixaxis to control both direction and pace of the ball. You hold the PS3 controller sideways in your hand and will initially have to choose the position of your bowler by tilting the controller, followed by the direction...
