Video: Datura's Hidden Meaning, Free Soundtrack Hits PSN Today

50°
117w ago - Plastic Studios Game Director Michal Staniszewski has unveiled a video spotlighting Datura's Hidden Meaning, and has confirmed the free soundtrack hits PSN today.

To quote: It's been a while since we launched Datura exclusively on PSN, and lately I've been wondering if anyone had deciphered the true meaning of the game.

In many interviews with the press, I've said that Datura is open for interpretation and that it depicts visions of what happens after you die.

This was true, but I never spoke about the deeper layer of interpretation that connects the scenes. Every madness has its explanation, and Datura is no exception.

Reading through the reviews I found that many people got lost in the forest and the fog that surrounds it. Overwhelmed by the decisions and their consequences, it became difficult to recognize the small details that we scattered throughout the storyline. On the surface, Datura can seem random but there is a connection that ties it all together.

For every game there's always a small group of players that demands a challenge. Most often it's represented with an increased difficulty curve, thus it's attached directly to the gameplay.

But sometimes the challenge concerns the content, and that's why I decided to look at fan...

Video: PS3 QA Flag Demo, Enables Hidden Firmware Options

1300°
189w ago - Today Sony PlayStation 3 hacker Mathieulh has posted a video demo showcasing the PS3 QA flag, which is the internal console flag used by Sony to enable hidden Firmware options and removes restrictions on Retail and Debug consoles.

This is done on official PS3 Retail/Debug firmware without any modification as the console itself is QA flagged (QA token is set through spu_token_processor), meaning the method will not work on unflagged consoles and using the advanced QA flag also enables PS3 Firmware downgrading.

From the video's caption: I just QA flagged my Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition console and I thought I'd show you the hidden options for the sake of it (and because I was bored).

I am sorry for the unstable camera, I only have two hands and the options are hidden and require (along with the actual flag) a crazy button combo to pop up. (I kid you not)

Sorry I am not telling you how to do this, please do not ask. Yes, this video is real.

QA flag is the internal console flag used by Sony, it enables hidden options and removes restrictions for both retail and debug consoles alike. It is used for QA centers and the R&D Department, there are 2 levels of QA flags, Minimum and Advanced, this console has been set to the Advanced one.

234w ago - With today's PS3 Firmware 3.40 Update came some documented features from Sony as well as some things not so noticable, including limitations on the PlayStation 3 Video Edit and Uploader application and some hidden PS3 system software update features.

According to Examiner.com (linked above), with Sony's PS3 Video Editor & Uploader you can't edit or upload content added to the system prior to the 3.40 Firmware update, you can't use copyrighted videos, and the application (which requires 44MB of PS3 HDD space) places a time limit of ten minutes on each video that is edited.

Moving on to the PS3 Firmware 3.40 hidden features, Jes03 noted HERE the following, to quote:

"One feature not said about is the new photo albums. You can upload/download to Facebook and even view Facebook albums on the PS3."

100°
325w ago - When you go to the multiplayer screen where it would say PSN/Xbox live, Split Screen, System link, Options, Single player and then at the bottom "Game experience may change during online play."

Above that sentence there is a what looks like another sentence that has been rubbed out or something.

A few people who I have shown it to have had the game since day 1, but never noticed it was there.

Here is a picture of the menu for the PC its not very clear, but you get the idea.

Has anyone else experienced this?
