Video: Heavenly Sword Animated Feature Film Coming in 2014

55w ago - Sony Producer Brad Foxhoven announced today alongside a video that a Heavenly Sword animated feature film is coming in 2014.

Below are the details, to quote: *This movie has not been rated.

Today we're proud to announce the Heavenly Sword feature film. This is a CG animated film based on the game that originally launched in 2007. The Heavenly Sword film is slated to be released digitally worldwide, as well as theatrically in select global markets, in Spring 2014. The film stars Anna Torv, Alfred Molina, and Thomas Jane.

Heavenly Sword is a dramatic tale of revenge that sees Nariko (Anna Torv), a fiery red-haired heroine, embark on a quest of vengeance against the invading King Bohan (Alfred Molina) and his army. Once considered the failure of a legendary prophecy, Nariko must wield a sword that was ultimately meant for another.

This ancient Heavenly Sword, once belonging to a powerful deity, can never be wielded by a mortal without slowly and inevitably killing them. For Nariko, it's a race against time to avenge her clan before her life is irreparably overtaken by the omnipotent Heavenly Sword.

I think it's important to understand where Heavenly Sword stands for us, as many of you know...

Ninja Theory responds to Heavenly Sword 2 rumors & more!

335w ago - A quick follow-up on the previous Rumor: Heavenly Sword 2 cancelled for PS3 article, commenting tameem of NeoGAF has stated the following:

"We (Ninja Theory) never started work on HS2 as we wanted to focus on new multiplatform IP. Sony owns the IP for HS and we have never been privy to what they would do with it.

As for moving, we have been planning to move to larger premises for future expansion for the best part of a year. There is nothing bitter about the move.

And the rumor that the team has been disbanded is ridiculous. We have had an unbelievably loyal team especially as we went through some difficult times securing a new publishing deal. We have a new publisher and are busy on our new project which is going very well so far.

HS is far from our thoughts at the moment."

Rumor: Heavenly Sword 2 cancelled for PS3

335w ago - According to an "inside UK source" via Kotaku, Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe has cancelled Heavenly Sword 2.

The game had been in development for a few months, but Sony has apparently decided that it is no longer commercially viable.

To quote: On a side note, Ninja Theory, who have already said they weren't working on the sequel to their PlayStation 3 exclusive, have grown increasingly bitter about their treatment at Sony's hands, our source tells us.

I'm told that the development studio, which once had offices in the same building as Sony Cambridge ha started packing up to move to a new location.

Needless to say, this is deemed simply a rumor for the time being...

Heavenly Sword gets patched to 1.1

100°
361w ago - The PS3-exclusive action game, Heavenly Sword recently got a 1.10 patch. Right now, the contents of this 18MB download are mysterious.

It has been confirmed that DualShock 3 support has finally been added to the game, for those lucky enough to have imported the rumble-ready controller.

But, certainly the patch must hold other surprises. 18MB is a lot of data for just rumble alone ...
