83w ago - Sony Director John Koller has made available a video today from PS Vita key hardware and software developers who discuss the genesis of PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Yesterday, we made the big announcement of PlayStation Vita's availability in the U.S. Starting on February 22, 2012, you'll be able to pick up PlayStation Vita and play the world around you!

A lot of hard work goes into creating such a powerful device. We wanted to you to hear first-hand about PS Vita's development process and the many minds behind the product. Check out the video for a look at the movers and shakers behind PS Vita and the types of experiences you can anticipate come February.

97w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer uf6667 has Tweeted news announcing a new PS3 hardware flasher project called ProgSkeet.

Currently the official site ProgSkeet.com doesn't offer any details beyond the ProgSkeet PS3 Install Diagrams and ProgSkeet Multi-Console Install Diagrams, however, he did provide some pictures (below, with high-res HERE) of the ProgSkeet device and the ProgSkeet Drivers, ProgSkeet Flasher Software and ProgSkeet Flasher Software Update followed by some more updates in THIS ongoing Forum thread.

154w ago - The Electronic Entertainment Expo is set to begin this week, and according to Sony's PlayStation E3 2010 site they are set to reveal new hardware at this year's conference.

Excluding the PlayStation Motion Controller, it is more likely a PSP2 may be revealed this year over the recently rumored PS4.

To quote: "According to the official Sony E3 site, Sony will showcase new hardware on Tuesday: E3 2010 is coming! Meet us here to see what awesome games and hardware is being revealed!

While some speculate a PSP2 announcement from Sony is a possibility, the best bet right now would be another revision of the current PSP hardware with a design more akin to that of the PSPGo or the hardware simply being the Move controller.

Sony is set to take stage at E3 in just over 2-days, so we'll know for certain then."

158w ago - Sony revealed today that the PS3 has reached the expected sales of 13 million units for the 2009 fiscal year as part of their latest fiscal report.

As previously reported, with new and more efficient PS3 consoles shipping Sony has moved one step closer to hardware profitability.

The total of PlayStation 3 units sold so far (as of March, 2010) worldwide is now at 35.7 million since the system launched in late 2006.

Furthermore, Sony is forecasting another 15 million units sold by the end of the next fiscal year. In other words, they are expecting the PlayStation 3 to reach 50.7 million units in lifetime sales by March 31, 2010.

169w ago - Update: The Examiner.com reports that when contacting Sony they were assured a PS3 fix will arrive by morning, but for those who can't wait you may wish to give THIS FIX a try.

Today it appears PSN crashed, with widespread reports of error code 8001050F - hardware failure for PS3 (non-Slim) consoles!

Sony has Tweeted the following, to quote: "We're aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we're looking into it. Stay tuned for updates."

Sony has also issued a PS Blog Update and second Tweet stating: "PSN status update: We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them."
