252w ago - The latest victim in the fanboys "Metacritic war" is Halo Wars, possibly one of the biggest causalities of the user ratings fanboy wars on Metacritic.
As of February 7th, the metacritic user score currently stands at 0.8/10 with 115 votes.
We also noticed Official Xbox Magazine has a review up, they gave it a 9/10, we're pretty positive a majority of those who gave it such a low user score haven't even played the demo let alone the final game.
We're not sure what console these fanboys came from, and frankly we don't care, it's obvious these scores will impact the buying decisions of a small group, why bother sabotaging what is shaping up to be a great game from a proven studio?
254w ago - Excited for Halo Wars? Well we've got some good news: Microsoft has given Major League Gaming some codes for early access to the Halo Wars demo.
MLG is planning to give them out to 25 random people who reply to a forum post made just for that purpose. So if you are interested, here are the rules:
"This thread is for submissions to our Halo Wars demo code giveaway. In order to be eligible to win a Halo Wars Early Demo Access code you must post in this thread before Wednesday, January 28th at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Out of all entrees, MLG will randomly select 25 people as winners. These winners will receive their codes shortly following the end of the submission period.
1. One post per person.
2. Any users attempting to manipulate the contest (posting multiple times, using alternate accounts, etc.) will be dealt with accordingly. We will be checking posts for validity. You have been warned."
Let us know if you are one of the lucky ones to get a code!
261w ago - It has been confirmed today that Halo Wars will be released in North America on March 3rd, while it will hit Europe on February 27th.
To quote: Ensemble Studios' Xbox 360 real-time strategy game Halo Wars finally has a release date. It will deploy/move out/establish a beachhead/random other armed forces metaphor on March 3rd in North America and on February 27th in Europe.
The game's now available for pre-order at several different retailers, if you're the type who likes to plunk down money months in advance for a game that you could easily pre-order the week before (just sayin').
As reported last month, pre-ordering the game's $80 Limited Collector's Edition and get an exclusive in-game vehicle and early access to the Mythic Map Pack for Halo 3, among other things.
The release will be a bittersweet day for Ensemble Studios. They're obviously pretty psyched about the project but the studio, best known for the Age of Empires series, will be closing its doors when work is completed on the game.
