Yes folks, it's October, which means that the crazy end-of-year games rush has begun. A boggling number of games are due out over the next few months, so let us guide you towards the titles we really think you should be keeping an eye on.
Remember though, most of these recommendations are based on previews, so wait until the final review verdict before picking any of them up.
1. Animal Crossing: City Folk - Wii, 16th Nov US, December EU
It might not be the great hardcore hope Reggie claims it to be, but the Wii version of Animal Crossing certainly promises to be the definitive entry in the series. It's got proper online play, mic and keyboard communications, Mii support, a new city area full of customisable gear to pick up and connectivity between Wii and DS. In other words, it's got everything Animal Crossing always needed. AC is one of those games you either love or just don't get at all, but if you're the former, this will be a must.

Notch another game on your Trophy-to-do list. For all you completists out there, here's the list of available PS3 Trophies for Tom Clancy's EndWar. There are 53 Trophies in total: 42 of them are Bronze, 8 are Silver, 1 Platinum, and 2 for Secret.

Square-Enix dropped a bomb at E3 this year when they announced Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360, but can we expect any blockbuster unveilings at the Tokyo Game Show this week?
Well, before the hype and anticipation starts, we'd like to say: nah.
Final Fantasy Union recently ran an article about what to expect, and as far as we can see, we'll have to look elsewhere for any super big announcements. While Square-Enix is bringing 25 titles to the show, only 6 of them have anything to do with the revered Final Fantasy franchise, and only 9 of the total 25 games on display will be playable.
One bit of good news is that this includes the upcoming Dissidia: Final Fantasy for the PSP, so handheld fans should be anticipating some new gameplay footage.

The red rings of death issue simply refuses to go away for Microsoft, and no matter how much it reduces the cost and extends the warranty one simple question remains: will the Xbox 360 ever be fit for purpose?
I guess that the headline should have read 'Will my Xbox 360 survive past Christmas?' given that I intend to use my own experience of Xbox 360 ownership to highlight that, no matter how hard Microsoft tries to convince the public differently, it just cannot seem to fix the hardware problems users of the Xbox 360 face.

Did anyone else think that the Fracture demo wasn't as abysmal as you were expecting? Sure, it was the epitome of mediocre third-person action with a gimmick attached, but at times it was almost fun.
Well the full game is out this week in both the US and Europe and, unless you're a European lego fan with vigilante tendencies, that's pretty much it. Oh, except for basketball. Lots of basketball. Here's the full release list:

IGN has posted footage of the entire opening level of The Conduit, a generous fifteen minutes of action in which hero Mr. Ford takes down enemy marines, shoots up bipedal "Drudge" warriors, and charges down corridors.
Then some more corridors. And then even more corridors. Seriously: there's a lot of corridors in this. A lot of conduits, even.

When it comes to the big screen adventure, Arad said the plan is to mix things up a little bit. In the game, the action moves very quickly to the island, but the film will open things up a bit and add some depth before the island adventure.
To quote: Arad Productions is working with another division of Sony to bring Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 3 hit, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, to the silver screen. Arad believes the game’s protagonist, Nathan Drake, stands on his own and isn’t just an Indiana Jones facsimile.
“The best thing about Drake is he's not an archeologist,” said Arad. “He's not a benevolent guy, but he's certainly not a great guy. Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing. Drake is a guy who's being hauled over to virtue throughout the game.

Following up on an earlier rumor of a new DS coming to market, Nintendo announced the Nintendo DSi at a news conference in Japan.
The new and revamped DS unit, which includes a 3 megapixel camera and a web browser, is set to go on sale in Japan on November 1st for 18,900 yen (about $180). No word on a US release yet, but there's a Nintendo press conference scheduled tomorrow where we're sure they'll have more details for those of us across the Pacfic.
The DSi will also be slightly smaller and have a larger screen than the current DS Lite, and will include additional photo editing software, built-in memory for saving picture and game data, and an SD card slot.
