3w ago - Sony PlayStation Store and Plus Content Manager Chris Howe is here with this weeks PlayStation Plus December content updates, which include Resogun, Guacamelee, GRID 2 and more below!
To quote: Hi everyone! It's a very exciting time here at PlayStation as we edge ever closer to the launch of PS4. As promised, PlayStation Plus will be with you from day one, ushering you into the next generation of console gaming with two incredible launch titles and access to immersive online multiplayer.
PlayStation 4 games:
First up, we are very pleased to welcome RESOGUN to the Instant Game Collection. As the spiritual successor to Super Stardust, RESOGUN is a side scrolling shoot-em-up with a unique and distinctive art style that really showcases the power of PS4.
It also takes advantage of multiplayer functionality to fully utilise the PS4′s online features to create amazing social experiences. But that's not all; the new DualShock 4 controller is fully harnessed too, enabling ship creation and customisation.
Next up from our friends at Compulsion Games comes stylish platformer Contrast. Taking on the role of Dawn, the imaginary friend of a little girl, Didi, you have the power to shift...
27w ago - Drinkbox Studios Production Assistant Matthew Johns announced today that new Guacamelee costumes and both PS3 trophies and PS Vita trophies arrive tomorrow.
To quote: It's been two months since Guacamelee launched on PS3 and PS Vita. Thousands of you have uppercutted, slammed, and derped your way through the evil forces of Calaca onto our leaderboards.
Hopefully the blisters on your thumbs have healed enough so you can enjoy the DLC we're releasing tomorrow. New costumes! New Trophies! And at only $1.99, you could buy it twice and it's still cheaper than your favorite premium coffee...
First up: the Identity Swap costumes, starring Juanita or Tostado! (Tostado is PS3 only.)
Juanita wears blue tights held up by a championship belt, and a tank top with a flaming, flying heart logo on it. Tostado (not to be confused with Tostada), wears matching pink shpants and luchador mask, and has dead bandaged-up blue skin.
These two deal extra damage with punches/kicks, but have weaker throws. You'll get a new 'Heroine-ism' trophy when you defeat Calaca with Juanita.
Have you ever wanted to run around wearing a chicken...
34w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith announced alongside a launch trailer video that Guacamelee rolls onto PS3 and PS Vita today.
To quote: I'm extra excited to announce that Guacamelee! comes out today on PS3 and PS Vita via PSN.
We're releasing the game as part of the Spring Fever promotion: $14.99 will get you both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, with a 20% discount for PlayStation Plus members.
Still there? Then allow me to add that Guacamelee! is a metroid-vania style brawler that supports Cross-Buy, Cross-Save, Cross-Control, has a precious Platinum trophy, and comes complete with rapid punching action.
Punch, punch, punch! Speaking of which, you may now be saying, "Hey guy, what's up with all of the punch talk?" Take a look...
Well, when we started making Guacamelee! we knew we wanted to include punching, but not just ordinary punching. We built a proof-of-concept demo, a video of which I have included below for your approval.
As you can see, we had blocking, we had holds, and we had charge-up moves. You'll be interested to know that we now have none of those things! Why, you ask?
36w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith posted up some new videos today confirming that Guacamelee body slams PS3 and PS Vita on April 9, 2013.
To quote: We're excited to finally announce our launch date and pricing details for Guacamelee! The game will be released on April 9th in the Americas, and will support Cross-Buy for $14.99.
This means you buy the game once and get both the PS3 and PS Vita versions. And that's not all... there's also a Platinum Trophy!
With GDC being this week, and the IGF award nomination for "Excellence in Visual Art," we also thought it would be cool to share some early concept art and video footage of the game, so that you can see for yourself how much things have changed. As you can see, Guacamelee! has really come a long way visually since its inception.
We began working on Guacamelee! in February of 2011. For the first two months, the game existed solely as a PowerPoint presentation and some concept art. Here's the very first screenshot mock-up of the game from that presentation:
We brought these materials and another game idea with us to GDC to gauge publisher interest in the two titles. Guacamelee! was clearly the more popular of the two ideas, and after...
79w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith has officially unveiled Guacamelee for PS3 and PS Vita today alongside some video footage below.
To quote: Hello good-looking, internet-savvy readers. Now that you've been buttered up a bit, DrinkBox Studios is excited to announce that our new Mexican-themed co-op-multiplayer dimension-swapping Metroid-vania beat-em-up platformer, titled Guacamelee!, will be released through the PlayStation Pub Fund program!
If you have never heard of Guacamelee! the best thing to do is to open your mind, relax, and watch the below trailer:
I know what you are probably thinking..."What is this 'Pub Fund'? And what does this mean for ME?"
Well it simply means that you can expect Guacamelee! to exclusively launch on the PlayStation Network for both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita. That's a lot of 's! You can also expect the game to take advantage of the special features offered by each of the platforms (details of these to come later - stay tuned).
Set in a world inspired by Mexican culture, Guacamelee! features a down-on-his-luck agave farmer named Juan Aguacate, who sets out to save the world when El Presidente's Daughter is kidnapped by an Evil Charro Skeleton. The story takes place in and around...
