Guacamelee - Super Turbo Championship Edition is Coming to PS4

7w ago - DrinkBox Studios Lead Designer Greg Lesky announced today that Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition is coming to PS4.

Below are the details, to quote: Hey everyone. Greg here from DrinkBox, where we've been locked away in our studio hiding from the harsh Canadian winter and dreaming of hot sun, sandy deserts, and bandanna-clad cacti.

We're excited to finally announce we've been working on a new version of Guacamelee for PS4 – the Super Turbo Championship Edition!

If you haven't played Guacamelee before, we're talking about a Metroidvania, brawling platformer where you play as a Luchador that harnesses the powers of a legendary mask, two meaty fists, and an arsenal of wrestling moves to battle an evil army of the undead. But did you also know you can turn into a chicken? And nothing hinders the forces of darkness more than being pecked in the knee by angry poultry.

If you have played before, you may be wondering "What makes this Edition so super? So turbo? Or so championshippy?" For starters, let's chat about new powers.

First up - INTENSO! (When you say it, picture you're a soccer announcer screaming "GOOOOOOAL" into a microphone. It works. Try it.) Pummel baddies into bone meal to fill your combo meter, then unleash INTENSO for a brief (but highly...

Only 5 dollars more than the game itself! 5 dollars?! I'm buying 10 copies RIGHT NOW.

Wait... what's Guacamelee?

A modern Metroid-vania style action-platformer-brawler set in a magical Mexican inspired world. Featuring beautiful graphics, non-stop fighting action, multi-dimensional platforming and 2 player co-op. Some people say that it's one of the top digital releases in 2013.

Watch the launch trailer here. I'm incredibly jealous that you'll get to play it for the first time.

I already own Guacamelee!

Thank you so much! While this bundle isn't meant for you, know that we love you.

It also takes advantage of multiplayer functionality to fully utilise the PS4′s online features to create amazing social experiences. But that's not all; the new DualShock 4 controller is fully harnessed too, enabling ship creation and customisation.

New Guacamelee Costumes and PS3 / PS Vita Trophies Out Tomorrow

50°
46w ago - Drinkbox Studios Production Assistant Matthew Johns announced today that new Guacamelee costumes and both PS3 trophies and PS Vita trophies arrive tomorrow.

To quote: It's been two months since Guacamelee launched on PS3 and PS Vita. Thousands of you have uppercutted, slammed, and derped your way through the evil forces of Calaca onto our leaderboards.

Hopefully the blisters on your thumbs have healed enough so you can enjoy the DLC we're releasing tomorrow. New costumes! New Trophies! And at only $1.99, you could buy it twice and it's still cheaper than your favorite premium coffee...

First up: the Identity Swap costumes, starring Juanita or Tostado! (Tostado is PS3 only.)

Juanita wears blue tights held up by a championship belt, and a tank top with a flaming, flying heart logo on it. Tostado (not to be confused with Tostada), wears matching pink shpants and luchador mask, and has dead bandaged-up blue skin.

These two deal extra damage with punches/kicks, but have weaker throws. You'll get a new 'Heroine-ism' trophy when you defeat Calaca with Juanita.

Have you ever wanted to run around wearing a chicken...

DrinkBox Studios: Guacamelee! Rolls Onto PS3 and PS Vita Today

100°
54w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith announced alongside a launch trailer video that Guacamelee rolls onto PS3 and PS Vita today.

To quote: I'm extra excited to announce that Guacamelee! comes out today on PS3 and PS Vita via PSN.

We're releasing the game as part of the Spring Fever promotion: $14.99 will get you both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, with a 20% discount for PlayStation Plus members.

Still there? Then allow me to add that Guacamelee! is a metroid-vania style brawler that supports Cross-Buy, Cross-Save, Cross-Control, has a precious Platinum trophy, and comes complete with rapid punching action.

Punch, punch, punch! Speaking of which, you may now be saying, "Hey guy, what's up with all of the punch talk?" Take a look...

Well, when we started making Guacamelee! we knew we wanted to include punching, but not just ordinary punching. We built a proof-of-concept demo, a video of which I have included below for your approval.

As you can see, we had blocking, we had holds, and we had charge-up moves. You'll be interested to know that we now have none of those things! Why, you ask?
