According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Sony will be announce that is release the 80 GB PS3 in Japan. The 80 GB PS3 will be bundled with a DualShock 3 controller and will come in black, white, and silver.
The price for the console is 39,800 yen, the current price of the 40 GB model. There will also be a LBP 80 GB PS3 bundle which comes with 2 Dual Shocks for 44,800 yen.
Famitsu also revealed that Sony will be offering a LittleBigPlanet and DualShock 3 bundle for 7.980 yen.
To quote: One of Sony's big Tokyo Game Show announcements has leaked out early through Famitsu. Sony will be releasing the 80 gigabyte PS3 model to Japan, the magazine reveals in its latest issue. New Vehicles
All three vehicles and manufacturers have special ties to Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital. They will be added to their respective Dealership areas in GT5 Prologue.

According to issa3032: Install the optional Firmware 2.43 update, and the system actually seems more resposive. Anyway, I booted up Gran Turismo 5 and was browsing around the options when I noticed something interesting: When you uncheck the "Disable Advanced Downloading" it asks you to "accept" or "decline".
In the past you used to get a warning message saying this feature would be enabled in a future firmware update. Well this message no longer pops up. I guess now we know what the firmware update did in addition to speeding up the XMB.
Note to others: "Unlike previous updates, firmware v2.43 is specific to the Japan region, and only PS3 users there will be required to install the update."

Sony Entertainment has revealed two new PS3 packs. They are an 80GB PS3, with two Dual Shock 3's and GT 5 Prologue for 449 Euro's. While the other pack will see a 80GB PS3, DualShock 3 and a specific movie sold at 399 Euro's.
The packs go on sale September 10th and October 29th respectively according to French site GameKyo (linked above).
449€: PS3 80Go + two Dual Shock 3 + Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (Septembre 10th)
399€: PS3 80Go + Dual Shock 3 + Blu-Ray Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis (October 29th)
Previously a German Tech site quoted David Reeves from Leipzig as having stated that Mirror’s Edge would be a timed exclusive for the PS3... this came out of the blue for many people looking forward to the game and especially the Xbox 360/PC owners.
To quote: "The PS3 will be continuously supplied with exclusive games: We are continuously, month after month publish new titles that bring something unique and different target groups. In a month, it is Gran Turismo, in the next SingStar, as well as Third-Party Title as mirrors Edge by Electronic Arts are part of this strategy. According to Reeves, Mirrors Edge will initially exclusively for the PS3 this year. PC and Xbox 360 versions would follow much later."
EA however have declined this statement by the SCEE President with the following...
Mirror’s Edge will be shipping this winter on PS3, XBOX 360 and PC. Mirror’s Edge will not be a timed exclusive for PS3.
