Joystiq reports Nyko is now shipping to retailers its Rock Band/Guitar Hero III compatible Front Man wireless guitar for PS3.

The third party controller is $60, which is the same price some retailers charge for first party controllers.

The Front Man guitar works up to 25 ft and allegedly gets 80 hours of play time, it also uses a "stomp box" to switch between the two rival rhythm games. It's great that the guitar is compatible with both games unlike the first party controllers, but isn't the whole point of a third party peripheral to be much less expensive than first party?

Oh well, we had no complaints about the controller when we got some hands-on time with it at GDC. The Front Man seems like an alternative for those who need another ax quick and a first party controller isn't at the store .

Earlier this week, Rage Against the Machine fretter and renegade of funk Tom Morello told Rolling Stone that he would be joining Guns N' Roses' Slash and Poison's Bret Michaels as a boss in Activision and RedOctane's Guitar Hero III. All well and good, but Morello's inclusion presented the obvious query of which Rage song would get worked into the Neversoft-developed rhythm game.

Today, Activision officially announced Morello's inclusion in GHIII, and also revealed that gamers can expect to engage Morello in rhythmic fisticuffs to the tune of "Bulls on Parade." Ranked as the 15th greatest metal song of all time by VH1, "Bulls on Parade" features Morello's signature synthetic guitar sounds. Adding a wrinkle to the gameplay, Activision notes that players will be required to "emulate some of Morello's extremely innovative guitar-playing antics." Guitar Hero III is rated T for Teen and will be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and Wii on October 28.

In addition to a heavy reliance on master recording tracks, Activision and RedOctane have signed on a number of big-name rockers to appear as bosses in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. One of the major announcements coming out of the GHIII camp during this year's E3 Media and Business Summit was that Guns N' Roses thrasher Slash would be doling out his special brand of rock for the rhythm game. Earlier this month, Poison frontman Bret Michaels was named as the second legend of rock to take the stage.

The third epic rocker to lend his signature twang in person to Guitar Hero III will reportedly be Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Morello reportedly confirmed his appearance as a boss character, saying, "Whenever I play Guitar Hero, my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs...Now that I'm actually in the game, I hope the digital me will win once in a while!" A RedOctane rep has since confirmed Morello's presence in the game, n... More »
