Video: Gears Of War 3: Ashes to Ashes Trailer & Box Art Arrive

400°
232w ago - Epic's Cliff Bleszinski debuted the first cinematic trailer for Gears of War 3: Ashes to Ashes for the XBox 360 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The title is tentatively slated to arrive on consoles around April 8, 2011.

To quote: "Gears 3 is packing all sorts of new hotness, including those recently leaked tentacle-having, mutating Lambent Locusts, (you might remember the ending of Gears 2, and a certain Brumak...).

In the new game there's an even greater threat called The Lambent, and it's these kind of crazy tenticle monsters that can mutate while you're fighting them.

Double barrelled shotguns, a beard-wearing (apparently) Dom Santiago, female COG soldiers... it's looking a treat. Such a dreary, ash-filled world Sera has become. We should get a even better look at the game during E3 in June."

XBox 360 Dashboard Ad Reveals Gears Of War 3 Hits in April 2011

50°
232w ago - Somebody at Microsoft appears to have flicked a switch a little early, with an advertisement appearing on the Xbox 360 dashboard tonight for Gears of War 3.

There's the trademark Gears of War logo, and a tagline that reads "The epic story concludes April 2011".

To quote: The ad appears to have jumped the proverbial gun, with the official reveal of the game not expected to have taken place until an appearance from Epic's Cliff Bleszinski on the Jimmy Fallon show on Monday night.

He of course was supposed to have been on the show, well, last night, but his appearance was pulled at the last minute. Guess somebody forgot to pass that onto the Xbox 360's ad team!

Despite the lack of an official reveal, it's already been rumoured that the third game in the Xbox 360 shooter series will feature franchise firsts like like underwater combat and mech suits.

Rumor: Gears of War 3 Re-confirmed for XBox 360 ?

50°
274w ago - No one seems to remember way back in 2006 when Gears of War first came out, from day one it was set to be a trilogy, though over the last few months Epic have said things like "There are no plans for a GoW trilogy" and they were handling things on "a game by game basis."

Yet now it seems a third title MIGHT be coming...

Recently [Register or Login to view links] to Official Xbox Magazine UK Cliff Bleszinski shut down rumors that he may be working on a new survival horror game, saying to quote:

"No, I'm not making a horror game next. Gears is very much near and dear to me. There's only been two Gears games, man, there's still plenty of opportunities for things you can do in a cover-based shooter, and there's still a lot of stories to tell in the Gears universe. I'm not burned out on that at all."

New? Well that cannot be the single player element to the Dark Corners pack (Road to Ruin), that was a "deleted scene" from Gears 2.

It wouldn't take a conspiracy theorist to think that another game could well be in the works. What are your theories? Share them in the comments below!

Gears of War 2 Update for XBox 360 Mends Wounds

50°
286w ago - On March 24th, Gears of War 2 received its third title update. It's the biggest update yet and promised to fix multiple exploits, bugs, and other glitches.

The update also includes an overhaul to the matchmaking ranking system as well as brand new achievements to prepare for the Snowblind Map Pack due out on the 31st.

However, the question still remains, "has the online component truly been fixed correctly?" Believe it or not, it has.

As inconsistent as Epic Games is when it comes to fixing their beloved Gears, you have to admire their persistent efforts. The first title update addressed matchmaking issues, allowing parties not at maximum capacity to find a game in a respectable amount of time.

The second update addressed a slew of problems including the Gnasher shotgun fix. But even with such significant upgrades as the previous fixes accomplished, they pale in comparison to what the third has done for the game. You can check the complete patch notes here.

Let's start with the most noticeable change; the reimagining of the ranking system. Before the update, Gears had a ranking system based around five different military decals. The problem was that after you began playing, your bars would never really change at all.

There were instances where...
