Duke Nukem Forever PS3 Interview with Gearbox Software

100°
220w ago - SCEE Blog Manager James Gallagher has shared an interview today with Gearbox Software covering the upcoming PS3 title Duke Nukem Forever.

To quote: In what some people were comparing to shaking hands with Bigfoot and riding the Loch Ness monster, I can now confirm (as if you didn't know already) that Duke Nukem Forever is very real, it is coming to PS3 and I have played it.

I also grabbed this interview with the President and CEO of [Register or Login to view links], Randy Pitchford.

How does it feel to have this iconic character in the Gearbox stable?

It's kind of surreal but I really have to forget about that and focus on the mission of finally releasing Duke Nukem Forever. I'm trying not to worry about pressure or expectations.

In what state was the code in when Gearbox first got its hands on Duke Nukem Forever?

The vision was certainly evident and there were several moments of brilliance scattered throughout the game. When 3D Realms shut down, there were eight guys that managed to take everything that had been worked on and stitch it together; they went through war to get it even to this stage. They now call themselves Triptych and they're up on the 10th floor of our offices. They did an...

Borderlands Co-op Broken on PS3, Gearbox Working on a Fix

100°
271w ago - According to [Register or Login to view links] across the Web, the co-op feature of Borderlands is currently broken on the PS3 console.

Symptoms of the bug include freezes when opening the public game list and a general lag-filled experience.

Gearbox Software Engineer Scott Velasquez has [Register or Login to view links] the following in the Gearbox Community thread on this issue, to quote:

Update on the North American PS3 Friends Interface issue:

We've identified the problem and are working on a fix. Believe it or not, the friends feature was heavily tested by Gearbox and 2K. However, this particular issue we found could have never manifested itself in our or 2K's test environments.

We'll find out very soon if the issue exists for the PS3 International versions of the Borderlands. If it does, we'll hopefully have a fix implemented before it affects those customers.

We are doing everything we can to get this problem addressed as quickly as possible. Thanks to everybody who provided us with tons of information.

Treyarch Blasts Gearbox: They're not in the same league as us!

50°
339w ago - Whilst conducting a recent interview, two senior Treyarch developers (who are currently working on COD: World At War), completely laid into rival development team Gearbox, creators of upcoming WWII shooter, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway.

When asked whether they thought Hell's Highway offered any competition to the team, one senior developer blasted "We don't even think about them. Like... that's not the kind of game. They are not a game we even think about when we're playing."

The developer also went on to say "I watched the trailer and I was like these guys are not even in the same league."

Wow, very strong words indeed from Treyarch, let's hope the developers can back it up and COD: World At War proves to be a triple A title.
