16w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill posted up a video today from Gamescom 2013 showcasing Driveclub, dubbed the social network of racers below.
To quote: Guten tag from Gamescom! I hope you got a chance to see yesterday's press conference, where we saw a glut of new games announced (and finally found out when we can get our own PS4s!).
Sid and I are in Germany, tracking down new info for the latest games. Yesterday, I sat in on a presentation by Col Rodgers, the game director on PS4's upcoming launch exclusive, Driveclub.
He went into detail about Driveclub's social features, the PS Plus Edition of the game, and showed us how Remote Play on PS Vita works.
Rodgers described Driveclub as the "social network for racing games," and this is exemplified by the game's Challenge system. If you feel especially confident about a run on a certain track, with a certain car, even at a certain time of day, you can issue a challenge to your club, sending a notification to their PS4s or to their mobile phones (courtesy of the Driveclub Mobile app).
As they play and try to beat your challenge, they'll rack up points for the club.
Things get interesting when you elect to challenge your other friends, who might not be part of your club. If...
16w ago - Sony Producer Daniel Brooke has made available a new PS4 trailer from Gamescom 2013 showcasing Knack on PlayStation 4 for fans below!
To quote: Hi, we're pleased to present the new Gamescom trailer for Knack. It's action-packed and reveals some exciting hints to the game's story, as well as including some new characters you won't have seen before - make sure you give it a look!
The hard-working team at Japan Studio has been creating a new demo specifically for Gamescom, as this will be the first time Knack has been playable at a consumer show. If you're going to Gamescom this week, please head over to the SCEE booth and check the game out!
The new demo includes platforming gameplay, as well as a level extract which has Knack absorbing wooden parts (and catching fire) as seen in the trailer. This gives you only a few minutes before your new parts burn away, so you have to keep battling and moving quickly to grab new parts before you shrink down in size.
Also, Mark Cerny will be at Gamescom talking about a great, newly-introduced additional feature to Knack. Japan Studio wanted to add something extra to the experience, and are currently working on a two-player "drop-in" co-op mode!
16w ago - Sucker Punch Productions Game Director Nate Fox shared a fresh Infamous Second Son PS4 video trailer today direct from Gamescom 2013 below.
To quote: Germany! I love Germany! Mostly for the beer. Also the pretzels, and Christmas smokers, funky sleds and gamescom. Can't wait for gamescom! inFAMOUS Second Son will be there in full force.
Our E3 trailer featured Delsin reveling in his powers using the Orbital Drop. Our newest trailer drops a lot of new game details: new smoke powers for Delsin and an all-new superhuman with unique powers of her own, ripe for Delsin to take for himself. Wanna see what this gal can do? Watch the trailer. You'll like it, its set to music. You'll see cool stuff.
Or course if you're at gamescom, come on by. On the show floor, we'll have some Sucker Punchers walking fans through a live gameplay demo of the content we initially revealed at E3.
We'll also be showing off a new behind-the-scenes movie to media, showcasing how Second Son uses the new DUALSHOCK4 controller. Keep an eye out for more news as we talk more about the DS4 throughout the week.
Of course if you can't make it to Germany you can follow the live stream of the conference on Playstation.com...
16w ago - Sony Senior Business Development Manager Shahid Ahmad has unveiled an avalanche of Indie titles for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita at Gamescom 2013 today including N++, Volume and Hotline Miami 2 with details below.
To quote: Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Shahid Ahmad at PlayStation Europe. Strategic Content is the name of the game.
It's a fancy corporate-sounding term, but it's also a bit "black-ops" sounding, so that's cool. Our focus has been working with the indie dev community over the last year and a half, but it's not all we do. We also work with larger publishers. In this post, we'll be focusing on the indie story.
At gamescom, we've just underlined our commitment to bringing PlayStation fans the creative work of the some of the best indie talent in the world. Many of the games we've announced from our indie development partners will be making their console debut on PS4 and PS Vita. We've also got titles continuing to come to PS3.
Remember, at PlayStation, we allow the smallest indies to self-publish on the PS Store alongside the biggest publishers, we're democratic like that. We're also working hard to make things better for our partners, large or small, all the time.
Let's take a closer look at some of the titles we announced.
16w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Nik Schmidt shared a brand new Watch_Dogs PS4 / PlayStation 4 trailer video today at Gamescom 2013 below!
To quote: Hey guys! Couldn't make it to Gamescom? No worries, we've got you covered. Here's the trailer that was recently shown at Sony's conference. It introduces a rather intriguing group.
We already knew that even though Aiden was kind of a lone wolf, he wasn't always acting alone. He had some help. But in this latest piece, we're realizing that he might be facing more resistance than he had initially planned.
DedSec, an unorthodox group of "hacktivists" very active in Watch_Dogs' Chicago, doesn't seem to approve of Aiden's actions - even though in a way he's helping them uncover the many flaws of ctOS.
Therefore, they seem committed to exposing him and denouncing his actions to the population. And much like Aiden, DedSec appears to have plenty of resources, making him even more vulnerable.
So what's Aiden's real connection with them? Are they friend or foe? On top of dealing with his own problems and the occasional police chase, will he have to watch his back for DedSec members? I, for one, have trouble believing him when he says he's not in any trouble.
