158w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has unveiled a first look video today of Dead Rising 2 on the PS3 video game console.

To quote: When zombies first descended on the shoppers of fictional Willamette, Colorado in Dead Rising, the PlayStation 3... didn't exist.

Four years later, the zombies are ready to shamble, moan, and hunger for brains again in Dead Rising 2 - coming to PS3 this August.

Didn't play the first game? We've got you covered. Capcom's Mike Schmitt and Wes Phillips walk us through the sequel's new multiplayer modes, and give newcomers a look at the delicious combination of goofiness and gore that summarize the Dead Rising universe.

194w ago - Naughty Dog's Senior Manager of Marketing Communications Arne Meyer has announced today that Uncharted 2 for PS3 was dubbed GamesCom's best console game.

To quote: Just last week, one of our Senior Character Artists, Hanno, and I hopped on a plane to head over to Cologne, Germany, to work at Europe's biggest videogames show, Gamescom. It turns out that we absolutely had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

This was the first European show for Hanno and myself, as we had never been to the Leipzig Games Convention in the previous years. We weren't prepared at all on how huge gamescom was - not only in importance, but in sheer physical size.

There were four different halls at the Koelnmesse where games were being shown and EACH hall was about the same size of an airplane hangar. The PlayStation booth was probably one of the biggest booths we've ever seen and was split into four main sections representing racing games, family games, social entertainment and an 18+ area.

We were looking forward to going to Germany since we were hand-carrying over something really special with us - a fresh set of Blu-ray disks that would allow anyone at gamescom to have the first hands-on gameplay ever with the single player campaign of UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves!

197w ago - It now appears the XBox 360 is officially the only console to stream Netflix, leaving Sony's PS3 (with the exception of Bravia TVs) and the Nintendo Wii (PlayOn notwithstanding) to utilize other services.

At the very bottom of Microsoft's long list of details surrounding today's Xbox LIVE update, it states that the Netflix Watch Instantly integration is now an "exclusive partnership," with Microsoft going so far as to say that the "Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers."

To quote: Netflix Partnership - This exclusive partnership offers you the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers, at no additional cost.

208w ago - I have nothing against case mods, I've seen some nice mods over the years. But sometimes... things start to go south.

To the left is a normal looking PlayStation 2 system. Nothing out of the ordinary, PS2 stand, little pink memory card... but the eye sore on the right? Don't ask, I still can't figure out what is going on.

I figure the original PS2 brand on the console wasn't suffice enough for this person. No they had to go out, buy car branding letters so in case you were on the other side of the street passing by he/she or maybe he she's home you can still that's a PS2 in the living room.

Also if you're eyes haven't combusted in its sockets for watching this throw up, very intimidating dragon on the upper right side. If this wasn't enough of a car accident, this person finds a way to hit new lows... for whatever reason that I'm sure God himself is unable to answer if put on the spot.

A giant fan, why? I have no clue. I never knew PS2 systems had an over heading issue, but evidently no one told this rock.

Nothing saying PlayStation 2 like car decals, and giant fans, if it even is functional. Which is sad if it is, as this person should have been electrocuted during the install process.

Sadly the video game gods must have been upset at the world this...

211w ago - Apple went from being a computer manufacturer to a consumer toy maker with the iPod.

They then morphed into also being a phone manufacturer with iPhone, and in the process they have seen the massive profits that can be made by owning a proprietary gaming platform standard.

Having seen what Apps store is making for them, they obviously want more. One obvious route this can take is to join Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo in the home game console market. Apple certainly have the technical expertise to do this.

It costs billions to launch into the console market, as Microsoft will tell you. Fortunately Apple have $29 billion in the bank. Yes, that's right, $29 billion. You could buy a country or two with that. Also you need management who know what they are doing. Well Apple's management seem to have had all the right ideas thus far. But that is not stopping them currently recruiting some of the top management in the console game industry.

Then there is the strongly rumoured takeover of Electronic Arts. Apple could very easily afford this and it would give them the guarantee of lots of content as and when iConsole is launched. In fact it wouldn't make much sense unless Apple were launching a game console.
