First Screenshot of Friends List Crossover from PS3 to PS4 Arrives

50°
52w ago - Today a screenshot has surfaced showing the Friends List crossover from PS3 to PS4, which depicts a user playing Killzone: Shadow Fall on PlayStation 4, seen on friends list on the PlayStation 3.

To quote: "Someone recently leaked a screenshot showing what is the first ever PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 crossover.

As you can see in the above image, this is the first case of a PS4/PS3 crossover. If you do not understand what's going on in the picture allow me to explain. If you have a PlayStation Vita, then you know that you can see what everyone on your friends list is playing. The only difference is that PS3 users can't see what PlayStation Vita users are playing... yet.

This looks to NOT be the case with the PlayStation 4, because as you can clearly see, this XMB shot was taken from a PS3. It's only a matter of time until the PS4 arrives and this screenshot is only building my anticiption more and more."

PS3 'Premium Avatar' Friends List Concept Pictures Available

500°
265w ago - Since PS3 Firmware 3.0 many have voiced their dislike on the gray bars around the Friends List redesign.

Last week we saw some videos on Sony PS3 XMB Ideas, and today some 'Premium Avatar' Friends List concept pictures surfaced from Andrewskates on the official [Register or Login to view links].

To quote: "Here are some rough concepts I made up, with the direction I think Sony [is] going to take with the unpopular gray friend cards, integrating them as 'Premium Avatars'.

I figured it would seem a bit of a rip off to just pay for new small pictures, thus I think that they will incorporate the entire card instead of just a small picture.

This would be a great way to market upcoming games and further integrate the IP's into the user base.

I left in the current gray boring design in as a direct comparison. Bear in mind these were just made for fun."

266w ago - Update: A second concept video has now been added below!

PlayStation 3 Firmware update 3.0 added large gray boxes (see the third picture below) around each individual user ID, making for a cluttered look that simply didn't jive with the elegance of the XMB.

SCEE's PS3 Brand Manager [Register or Login to view links] on the EU PlayStation.Blog that "updates to firmware don't always suit everyone's tastes."

Thankfully, the Friends list is something Sony is "looking into based on your comments." Mark Bowles added, "We really do appreciate the feedback you guys give us, both positive and negative."

That being said, YouTube user tubescorch has shared some of his own [Register or Login to view links] along with a video below.

To quote: "Since the recent firmware 3.0 update the PS3 XMB is taking a turn for the worse. Here a some ideas on how Sony could improve the XMB."

Haze PSN Demo Has In-Game Friends List

50°
335w ago - Update: Apparently this isn't anything 'new' as PS3 online users are also reporting Army of Two, Burnout Paradise, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 have an In-Game Friends List as well as Resistance for well over a year now.

Watchful reader StevieK08 has alerted us to the fact that the new Haze Demo has an in games friend list. To see it, get to the main menu, hit triangle once, triangle a second time, and voila!, up pops the friends list.

We have not had a chance to verify but Steve attached a screen shot that appears to confirm his story. If you have the demo, please give it a try and let us know. Thanks!
