174w ago - Designer Aaron Luke has detailed the new 30-Player Franchise Mode in MLB 10: The Show today for PlayStation 3.
To quote: One of our goals going into this year was to finally enable the ability to mimic your real-life counterpart rosters when in Franchise mode. In order to do so, we had to allow all 30 teams to be set for user control. Before we could even dive into that, we had to change up how profiles and options work.
In the past, we've allowed you to create a total of four profiles. With this new 30-Player control, we had to open the profile system up to accommodate the potential for a full 30 players. One of the biggest reasons was to have the ability to support up to 30 different option sets.
So now you have the ability to create 30 different profiles, and assign any or all of them to your selected teams. If you want only one team to use a custom option set, assign a profile to only that team, and all other selected teams will use the Global options set.
After crossing the options hurdle, another area we needed to expand on was our player injury system. In order for you to have that true-to-life roster, we saw the need to allow you to manage your player injuries.
We now support a system that allows you to select which players should be injured, choosing...
175w ago - According to Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development Christian Svensson, Capcom is working on a hardcore Project Natal game based on an old franchise.
Outside of tech demonstrations and modifications of several existing Xbox 360 games, we haven't seen what Project Natal is capable of.
Microsoft is keeping those games under wraps, however, G4TV caught up with him at CES last week and learned the following, to quote:
"I can't talk about what we're doing on Natal right now yet because we haven't announced it, although we have announced that we're working on stuff," said Svensson, emphasizing his vagueness.
He was willing to tease a little more about one unannounced game, however.
"I think you'll see again a brand focus on what we're doing there [on Natal], perhaps a brand we haven't seen in a while," he said with a coy smile, as Capcom public relations eyeballed us. "That's exciting."
Microsoft announced Project Natal would be released during the holidays at CES, but Svensson made it clear to me that Capcom was not rushing this one out the door to meet that deadline.
"We're not going to be at launch, just to temper the expectations," he said. "We're gonna cook something and it's gonna to take a while to cook."
196w ago - Bethesda's Pete Hines has clarified Internet speculation about the future of the Elder Scrolls franchise.
Hines has said that Bethesda' producer Todd Howard was misquoted at QuakeCon last week, when he refused to give any details on a possible fifth title in the series, leading some to assume a new single-player game was not in development.
To quote: "Of course, we're going to do another Elder Scrolls game. The last one was enormously popular," wrote Hines on the publisher's official blog.
"Todd and Bethesda Game Studios are hard at work on their next big game, and we're not ready to discuss it. As always, we prefer to have something amazing to show when we talk about it.
We aren't going to confirm or deny or comment on speculation, nor are we going to give hints about anything. If you know us by now, you know we don't really do that," he added.
227w ago - Senior Designer Kolbe Launchbaugh shared some details today that have gone into the Franchise mode enhancements of MLB 09 The Show. To quote:
When we set out this year's plan, one of our goals was to blow out the personnel aspects of the Franchise experience.
Starting with the beginning of spring training, the rosters you will carry into spring will be those of their real-life counterpart, the long awaited 40-man rosters. Now you will have to manage your Spring Training roster a little more carefully to ensure your young players get the looks they need.
Moving on to the regular season, you will now be dealing with many of the various roster-related items all GMs have to deal with. You will be in control of designating players for assignment, waiver transactions, handling Minor League options, and managing your 40-man roster.
Once in June, you will have the Amateur Draft to participate in. Along with drafting players, the Amateur Draft also includes Supplemental picks for those teams that failed to re-sign Type A or Type B free agents in the offseason.
Once your season hits September, your 25-man roster will expand to the full 40-man where you will then have to decide who get's the call and who doesn't. If your Franchise is successful enough to make the...
