Today PlayTV, the Digital TV/DVR addon unit for Sony's PlayStation 3, has been updated to version 1.21.

A minimum of PS3 Firmware 3.0 is required to receive the update, and changes include the following:

• Support for Dolby Digital + for HD channels
• The recording of HD channels is now possible

Chart-Track has told GamesIndustry.biz (linked above) that sales of the PlayStation 3 have jumped over 999% in the past week, shifting eleven times the number of units sold the prior week.
