Today I present created by the dumper EID0 blackdeath with which we can dump all EID0 or directly CEX first section with only launch a pkg and have connected a USB port on dev_usb000, the instructions are on screen and are easy:

  • START: To dump all EID0.
  • SQUARE: To dump the first section of EID0 directly (eid0_1st_Section_CEX.bin).
  • X (EQUIS): To dump metldr (Encryption) to USB and be prepared to exploit and get the dump of the decrypted metldr in subsequent steps.

PS JailBreak Mod Code Sniffed via USB, Logged and Examined

1300°
225w ago - A few days ago PS JailBreak was reverse-engineered, and today Descrambler sniffed the USB traffic and shared the log.

I don't know that much about the USB protocol, but I think this is what happens:

• The PSJailbreak is inserted
• It connects with the host (PS3) and sends 09 02 12 00 01 00 00 80 + all the bytes from the first packet starting at 0008 up to 00EFF.
• The stack is overwritten and the PS3 jumps into code from the packet
• The Atmega sends a "USB Disconnect command"
• The last three steps are repeated four times

• It connects with the host and sends 09 02 4D 0A 01 01 00 80 + the bytes from the second packet starting at 0008 up to 0A4C
• The stack is overwritten and the PS3 jumps into code from the packet
• The Atmega sends a "USB Disconnect command"
• The last three steps are repeated twice.

Voilà... The PS3 is in "Debug Mode".

Apparently the third and fourth byte of the after the 09 02 are the numbers of bytes to be sent. At least this goes for the second log (4D 0A->0A4D bytes)...

The first 8 bytes are from the usb protocol left [09 02 ... ]

The code will be...

Federal Judge Rules BitTorrent Site IsoHunt Infringed Copyrights

260w ago - U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Wilson has ruled that BitTorrent search engine IsoHunt, which is currently still operating, has infringed on copyrights by intentionally encouraging piracy.

To quote: "Evidence of defendants' intent to induce infringement is overwhelming and beyond reasonable dispute," wrote U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Wilson in the central district of California.

The ruling is at least the fourth major defeat for a peer-to-peer company since the courts shut down the original Napster in 2001. Four years later, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that peer-to-peer company Grokster infringed copyright by inducing infringement.

In addition, last year, a federal judge ordered peer-to-peer company TorrentSpy to pay $110 million damages to the Motion Picture Association of America after finding that the site destroyed evidence relevant to the MPAA's copyright infringement lawsuit."

Feds Note Gaming DRM Woes: FTC to Hold Town Hall Meeting

50°
310w ago - 2008 may become known as the year of digital rights management, thanks in no small part to EA's bringing the issue front and center with Spore and the ensuing backlash.

The Federal Trade Commission is planning on holding a town hall meeting devoted to the subject of DRM on March 25.

The [Register or Login to view links] describes the meeting and its aim. "Digital rights management (DRM) refers to technologies typically used by hardware manufacturers, publishers, and copyright holders to attempt to control how consumers access and use media and entertainment content," the FTC explains.

"Among other issues, the workshop will address the need to improve disclosures to consumers about DRM limitations."

The agenda includes demonstrations of DRM-related technology, panel discussions about how these technologies affect consumers, legal issues surrounding DRM, and discussions on the potential need for government involvement to protect consumers.

You can get involved, as well. "The Commission invites interested parties to submit requests to be panelists and to recommend other topics for discussion. The requests should be submitted electronically to drmtownhall@ftc.gov by January 30, 2009.

The Commission...
