PS3 Sale Starts Today Including Some Favorite PlayStationMemories

50°
60w ago - Sony's Jawad Ashraf of the PlayStation Store Team is here with details on this weeks PS3 sale which includes some more favorite PlayStationMemories below.

To quote: I hope everyone has been enjoying our #PlayStationMemories promotion over the last few weeks.

Moving on from the joyous PS2 era, we now come to the current generation console - PlayStation 3. PS3 moved into a new world of high-definition gaming and online connectivity, where games looked like cut crystal and playing online with your friends became a norm for many.

PlayStation 3 has hosted countless popular franchise updates, such as new installments of Grand Theft Auto, Tekken and Metal Gear Solid to name a few, as well as brand new IP such as the Uncharted and Assassin's Creed series.

We also saw great new games thanks to the evolution of the digital space, such as the much lauded Journey, The Unfinished Swan, Braid and Limbo. And the system's future still looks bright, with the likes of Gran Turismo 6, Grand Theft Auto V, Beyond: Two Souls and Puppeteer still to come.

I remember getting my PS3 quite clearly, despite my original pre-order agonisingly falling through. I purchased Devil May Cry 4 before actually having the system, but Uncharted and Ninja Gaiden Sigma were thrown into the bundle...

Rumor: World Favorite Nintendo Wii is going HD

50°
310w ago - The world's most popular games console is being upgraded. Japanese games giant Nintendo is developing a high-definition model of its Wii console, which has sold more than 30 million units globally.

Though no official announcement has yet been made despite numerous rumors, games developers in Japan have been given top secret briefings on the next-generation console, thought to be named Wii HD.

The new console will support high-definition graphics, bringing it in line with Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 and will likely debut in late 2011.

The Wii HD is also rumored to feature a high-capacity hard drive for the storage and streaming of digital content such as music and video. Meanwhile, Nintendo has unveiled its new hand-held games machine, the DSi.

A successor to the company's hit Nintendo DS portable games unit (pictured left), the new DSi has two cameras and can play digital music.

It is 12 per cent slimmer than the current model DS and has a slightly bigger screen at 3.25 inches. An SD slot has also been added for storage of photos and, potentially, games. The DSi will be released in Japan on November 1 and cost about $225, but it will not be in shops here until...

PS3 voted 'Teen Favorite' by Global Youth Survey

50°
331w ago - A Global Youth Survey conducted by Habbo, the second one it's done apparently, has revealed that PlayStation 3 "is the console of choice for teens today".

The report asked 58,486 teens between the ages of 11 and 18 in a global survey across 31 markets. 69 percent refer to PS3 as 'great' or 'good'. This was followed closely by the Nintendo Wii at 64 percent and Xbox 360 with 58 percent. So there's not much in it by the looks of it.

PS3 beat Wii in every age group except the 11 to 12 year olds and Wii was more popular among girls up to 16. Are you surprised to learn that it's the "favored female choice overall"? Thought not.

The results also showed that while Xbox 360 is less popular in Europe and Asia, its popularity in the US is much better. It's the most popular console in Mexico and Colombia and takes second place in the US, Canada, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

"The results of this survey are interesting as it gives us an insight into which brands these teens aspire to as the level of ownership does not correspond to the consoles' popularity," said the people behind the survey. "By order of ownership, the Wii leads, followed by the Xbox 360 and PS3."

Of the teens surveyed, 24 percent own a Wii, with 21 percent and 23 percent owning a PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively....

Top Five Things to do in GTA IV Between Missions

200°
332w ago - Well, you've just stolen your umpteenth car for Brucie, taken Michelle to the Chicken Shack and banged her like a drum for the tenth time... What now?

Instead of the single player missions, I'm gonna give you a top 5 things to do when you're not performing a single player mission.

Number 5:

Ladies of the night. Whether it's the strippers or the hookers, Rockstar has made sure that Niko's nookie is taken care of. Sure, there's lots of variations on this one, like find all of the different types of hookers, kill the hookers, or run the hookers down. Then go to the strip club and, of course, shoot up the strip club, kill the strippers, run the strippers down, or check out the different lap dances, but it all boils down to finding the ladies.

Number 4:

Got this extremely fun activity from Rothbart. He likes to steal a motorcycle then drive as fast as possible into oncoming traffic and see how far he can jettison Niko. Then he gets up and tries it again. There are obvious variations on this one, such as jettisoning yourself from a fast car, or jettisoning yourself from a heliocopter.

Number 3:

Stunt jumps. Just like number 4, but you try and survive these jumps. There's about fifty, or so, unique stunt jumps to find and clear in Liberty...
